I'm a 100% inexperienced pilot who has wanted to fly since I was a very small girl. I've decided that 2012 will be the year for it and I plan to drag my father along for the ride as he's always wanted to learn as well. My grandfather was an ultralight enthusiast, but Father and I tend to find small Cessnas more practical as well as more comfortable.
Unfortunately, my husband absolutely HATES flying, so I will probably have a battle on my hands when the time comes; he has already expressed his anxious disapproval of the idea, but has indicated that he won't try to prevent us.
Does anyone know of anywhere good to learn in the Hunter Valley? The only place I've seen so far charges about $300 per lesson; although this includes instructor's fees and plane hire, it seems a bit steep to me. Or is this typical?
I plan for us to get started in 2012, so I've got plenty of planning time!
