Breitbart News is an extreme right-wing organisation who backs American Prepper beliefs and they regularly post untrue articles.....

“Regularly...”

Hmmm... since you have so much to choose from perhaps we can get some links to these so-called “untrue articles”.....?

KGW - Please accept my sympathy as regards the loss of your sister, cancer is a bastard of a disease, it seems few families are untouched by it.

My workshop landlord has cancer now, my Dad died of Melanoma that went in, from in front of his ear, 7 mths of increasing agony and desperation, despite a morphine injector strapped to stomach for the last couple of months.

Yes indeed sad situation KGwilson

My dad who just turned 92 is in care interstate and we can no longer visit him. My mother who used to spend all day every day with him can also not visit. luckily we just squeaked in a visit for his birthday before this got serious.

Last night we got a call that he was bleeding from his catheter so he was taken to hospital in considerable pain where they treated him and gave pain relief and sent him back to the care home felling much better. I do think that if this were to happen again in a few weeks time that the hospital will not be an option.

I don't advocate social isolation lightly as it mean it is highly unlikely I will see him again but I certainly don't want to be the one that brings covid in to a facility wher4e many would die if the contracted it.

Question

Just looking at the lets say older members here (which I am one) - do you intend to fly or stay away.

What are the local flying schools doing? Are they still operating as normal.

I too am one of the older members..I had booked a flight with Emirates to Edinburgh and back to Brisbane.on the 21st May.. To return here in 6weeks.. That's if I decide to stay here after my split up.. I booked through flight Centre.

I have a credit note but it must be used by November or I lose it.. So I must rebook before then.. The problem is.. What if it's no better by say October.. I wish I had s crystal ball.. Stay safe.. I

Yes I watched it and found it to be extremely good but I am wondering why you posted it contradict much of what you say. What point were you trying to make?

I would urge everybody to watch this video.

One of the differences between how South Korea is handling this and how other countries are handling it is that South Korea has the ability to do mass testing on a scale that we cant do at the moment. Although someiness are open they are still practicing social distancing and performing temperature tests. Positive tests result in rigorous quarantine procedures. If we could secure the resources to carry out the mass testing of even asymptomatic people and ensure quarantine for those affected then sure end the lockdown but until then we need to slow the spread. What can we do as individuals? The Doctor gives his advice from the 35 minute mark. I totally agree...

How does it contradict what I’m saying ?..?

We are NOT Korea. The Dr alludes to comparing Korea to other parts of the world. The Dr also notes the trouble Korea will have on an on-going basis with their own young people re-infecting all. The virus outbreaks will continue to re-occur. Going off what the Dr alluded to, I’d suggest that just because this week they have an apparent reduction in known cases that the weekly reports will vary wildly as time goes on.

Korea was well prepared for the China virus.

Korea is a small easy to manage country.

Korea is basically of one people - Not a mass of independent minded immigrants.

Korea has a large manufacturing base.

Korea has a large medical related research and manufacturing base.

I’ll repeat - Korea were ready for the virus. So, Korea is certainly a lesson for Australia, though it is not a direct comparison to Australia.

AND - One wonders how Korea will be going in six months time when all those raw materials it depends on are not turning up due to the rest of the world being under a hysteria induced lock-down................?

Keep all your documentation. Australia needs aircraft in the air and the airlines need a constant stream of income. There were some announcements about what might happen a couple of weeks ago, but it was more important to get the airlines shut down and mothballed, and I imagine there will be some consideration on how to get the system moving and the airlines solvent again in few months. Scott Morrison said again today they are planning for at least six months of pandemic itself. A lot of airline staff that were stood down a few days ago have been re-employed in blocks in other industries. I can't see Companies still in business being hibernated, but others who have already liquidated missing out. Keep bookmarking the government links which are being updated regularly.

Not suggesting it is but in terms of ways of handling it S Korea so far has handled it better than other countries whatever happens in the future.

due to the rest of the world being under a hysteria induced lock-down

Just comparing the difference between S Korea and Australia I cant see a huge difference. The differences being that some business are still open but with testing. S korea has travel restrictions. We cant necessarily do as much testing at this point. I would be suggest that you and the doctor would disagree about the seriousness.

Octave, re all the ‘problems’ you have commented on about our health care system, there ain’t much we can do about it now. We should have been ready for it years ago.

Yes there is something we can do about, we can slow down the demand whilst ramping up the medical facilities Not only is this more humane in terms of not having toi turn people away to die untreated at home but to not burn out the doctors and nurses who are risking their own life to deal with this.

Yes I understand the damage to the economy could be more in a prolonged shut down although the damage to the economy started well before the lockdown. In an uncontrolled pandemic people are not going to be out spending money. I ceased my work before the lockdown after doing my own cost risk analysis. The business I work for is now operating successfully online. My super has lost about 50k although last week recovered a little. I don't advocate lockdown lightly and I am not panicking, in fact I am quite optimistic about the economy in the mid term. I am just not willing to throw a bunch of vulnerable people under the bus to keep my super healthy.

Hmmm... is this the same story...

“...SYDNEY (AFP) - Vigilantes in some Australian outback towns have reportedly slashed tyres of those fleeing coronavirus hot spots in the big cities, according to a government minister who urged calm on Friday (March 27)...”

Continues: Australian outback fears crush of coronavirus refugees: Minister

onetrack, it pays to look at the bit in brackets “(AFP)” From the brief google search I did it seems many news services around the world ran with the article. As to the integrity of the AFP report I don’t know.

OK, one down...... and waiting for another example from onetrack...?

@kgwilson - many condolences and sad for the additional pressure placed on you.

Back to topic - I have cancelled my shareoplane booking to fly to Turkey for Anzac day, and CAT/RPT is out of the question at this stage. There is an organised fly in called Raduno in Italy; I still have my Shareoplane booking for that as it is in mid-June, but not holding out too much hope. (https://forums.flyer.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=114298)

@Flying Binghi - for your entertainment re Brietbardt: | PolitiFact. Of course, some of the citations are older now and there aren't thousands of them, but you wanted more. I personally won't use that site nor give it any traffic whatsoever, but there was a story that made it big here, because it plagiarised a BBC report about the increase in sexual assaults in either Sweden or Switzerland. It falsely stated that sexual assaults were up a significant percentage (I can't recall the exact, but it significant - c. 25% seems to ring a bell) in the sameyear that Europe opened the flood gates to immigrants and blaming the immigrants. The truth was, they were using numbers over a 5 year period where the first year coincided with the country widening the offences that are categorised as sexual assault. If you took the percentage by which the immgrant population increated the total population of the country and compared it to the percentage increase of sexual assaults in that year, it was a comparatve decrease per population.

There are other sites that call into question its journalistic integrity. For example, https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/breitbart/.

Re the AFP article you quite, it states, "Vigilantes in some Australian outback towns have reportedly slashed tyres ". It doesn't say they have...

It quotes a pollie, not facts, and I don't know about you, but when was the last time you heard about a pollie trying to sensationalise something? To use one of your favoured emoticons, ?

Just like SloMo, BoJo and now Trumpo, who's inaction has catapulted the US to the biggest of yet something else, are going down the lockdown route...

But, hey, you guys obviously know something your idolsa and icons of the free world don't

Oh, another emoticon (as after all, that is what most reporting being referred to is): ?

Personally, I can't wpork out if it should be , :dizzy: or :roflmao:

You seem fairly conversant with these ‘assault’ matters so can we get some actual links to the issue - then we can ‘fact-check’ claims..?

One of my sources doesn't say everything Brietbart has to say is incorrect.. in fact they cited one artile as mostly true...

Again - you like to go on the attack with crap but when people find ways of questioning your assertions and where they're based from, all you can say is "you should check your sources"... Mate, all I can say is I seem to trust my sources like you seem to trust yours.. As I said - you think they're wrong or questionable - you prove it...

Heh, down the rabbit hole...

Jerry_Atrick, it is very easy and quick for me to fact check your so-called fact checker links - “mediabiasfactcheck” and PolitiFact. I do a search of Breitbart articles that reference those two and see if the Breitbart articles have been ‘fact checked’ as false by the fact checkers..?

Apparently the so-called fact checkers have not faulted any of the Breitbart articles referencing the corrupt fact checkers...?

Jerry_Atrick,.I do note that via your supplied link that the part Clinton funded (?) PolitiFact has referenced seven Breitbart articles in total since 2014. Seven in six years ! Have a read of what they are about... flags and pears and other important stuff..?

Do a search of Mediabiasfactcheck and we come across a major funder - George Soros. He were convicted of insider trading.

After double checking the nonsense claims my faith in Breitbart as a reliable news service has just gone up a fair bit...?

F.B. - I guess you fail to understand the word, "syndicated", when it comes to news articles??

That is, one paper runs a beat-up news item in one country, and the syndicated newspapers/websites all around the world run with the same story, often word for word??

I'm still waiting to see news articles or Police or Court reports about these "coronavirus vigilantes" actually being rounded up and charged?? After all, vigilantes are pounced on rapidly by the Police, normally, are they not?

Also - perhaps AFP could run a "fact check", on whether vigilantes are actually slashing tyres of tourists caravans in Outback Australia??

I did a search and couldn't find a link toi Soros - maybe you can post it? But even if he did, what does it prove? Soros did hve an insider trading conviction. But what does that prove? Bannon, who owns Brietbart is a self-confessed white supremacist - Sorors is a philanthropist... Hmmm.. If anything, on the assumption a) it has been finded by Soros and b) Soros ha anything to do with it on a continual basis 0- where's the evidence to suggest it is an inaccurate =or biased site (of course, from others than it accuses of being inaccurate or biased)?

Generally the deeper a rabbit hole people dig, the more entrenched based on emotion and ideology they become.. Align yourself to a white supremacist whose soapbox has been proven by many to be misleading and whip up racial tensions; against those you accuse, but have not proven to be inaccurate... Go for it...

Where I have come across something like this before?

Oh yeah - the coal debate under flight shaming - where China could do no wrong - and there was no acceptance that China manipulates markets.. Suddenly, Brietbart are saying China is bad and it is gospel.. Keep on digging...

BTW - As much as China is an economic powerhouse, it doesn't control all the markets... (but I will give you, it can exert some influence over them - which is why the US now have said they want to reduce their reliance on Chinese production and Iain Duncan Smith here has been waging a war against the kow-towing to them that the British Conservative government, partucularly under David Cameron - and also Labour under Tony Blair did)...

Also, if you did any real research into mediafactcheck, there is some independent questioning of its reliability and practices - mainly because it doesn't provide credit of authorship... A criciticsm I would accept.. Not that it really matters much what I think...

Re coal:

- I referenced both China and India’s major increasing coal power station building to point out the absolute absurdity of Australia’s coal power station shut down.

- Australia closing down a handful of coal power stations when just India and China alone are building 100’s is the point I were about.

- Even if you ‘believe’ in the global warming cult you would have to realise just how pointless the shouting down of Australia’s coal power is..?

For those who don't know Breibart News -

Breitbart News - Wikipedia

It is especially worth read the notable stories section for a list if inaccurate reporting. It is a news source favoured by the far right conspiracy crowd.

Yep... Wikipedia. What a source...?

A whole list of claims. Read through them.

Let’s pick one.

The current last reference - changes by the day depending who does the editing...

“...In October 2017, Breitbart News published a false story claiming that an illegal immigrant was arrested in connection with the October 2017 Northern California wildfires.[205] Sonoma County's sheriff department responded to Breitbart's reporting, "This is completely false, bad, wrong information that Breitbart started and is being put out into the public."...”

Research it. Read the Breitbart article. There were a chap lighting fires on the day. The named chap were lighting fires that day - just not that one..?

There seems to be a massive ‘industry’ out to find any little thing wrong with Breitbart articles. Considering Breitbart publishes many articles every day and the so-called fact checkers only find a dozen or so over the years shows me that Breitbart would have to be one of the most reliable news services on the planet..?

Anyway, nuff for now. The day beckons.....?

Before I forget. This were posted to the wrong thread...

Hmmm... all seems fairly convenient don’t it. Hong Kong riots and then China has a virus outbreak - and stops the WHO making much of it in the early days... Locks down the Woohan area... a young Chinese Doctor reports the seriousness to the world and supposedly dies from the virus?... many foreigners are told to leave China........

Let’s run a few scenario’s.....

The current Chinese government is the exact same government that has killed 10’s of millions of their own people in the past - why wouldn’t they do it again?

Why would they kill their own people to start the virus around the world???

What do they gain?

- Hong Kong locked down and controlled.

- Mainland political discontents conveniently suffer reported death by virus.

- Foreigners at factories expelled.

- Chinese people placed under even more control due to ‘the virus’.

- A world beholden to Chinese health related manufacturers that have conveniently lost the western oversight.

- A destitute world ripe for Chinese ‘investment’

- ?

The COVID19 has been well identified as a natural virus though that don’t mean it ‘jumped’ without a bit of help.

If the Chinese government had identified this virus some time ago they may very well have worked out a vaccine for it and given much of their population the vaccine as part of an annual flu shot that most wouldn’t have known what were in it.

Woohan is a dynamic part of China with many Chinese and foreigners travelling all round the world. Seems a good place to start a world pandemic whilst diverting attention from them-selves.

How would we check the possibility of this scenario.

Perhaps the Chinese US consular staff have been given the vaccine. A blood test would likely show.

Now, how would you do the blood test to check out the scenario.....?
