bilby54 Posted January 12, 2011 Share Posted January 12, 2011 We had the Sea Kings from 817 Sdn parked in the hanger at Roma for a few days doing relief work in the St George area. They left yesterday for search and rescue missions in the Grantham & Forest Lake areas and I'd like to extend the thanks of the people around here for their help as they are a great bunch of blokes with an exceptional helicopter. Roma will run out of Avgas by tomorrow so anyone planning out this way don't count on fuel..... but if you do come here, a tin of powdered milk will work wonders! :) I hope everyone is doing ok as most parts face up to their second or third big flood. dunlopdangler Posted January 12, 2011 Share Posted January 12, 2011 Anyone thinking of flying out to dalby won't get fuel neither as the disaster commitee has closed all road fuel outlets as well as the avgas bowser (except for emergency use). We got prior warning and were able to fill up beforehand. As the road out of Brisbane is underwater, supplies are becoming quite grim, the irony of it all is that the town is full of trucks which are laden with goods (produce, foods etc) parked up not being able to go any further. we have just had our sixth flood and it is really getting on our nerves...we cant go anywhere...do anything, but at least we are safe and feel for the pour souls in the lockyer valley...it is also frustrating not being able to help out, I was there in 1974 rescuing people etc by tinny and doing other stuff and feel I should be doing more to help..anyway I hope we can experience a speedy recovery and life goes back to normal soon.. by the way, for those who were asking, spoke to young Tomo's brother today and they are all fine, (Tomo is still in PNG) the house is on a ridge and they have escaped inundation (other than paddock flooding) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest ozzie Posted January 13, 2011 Share Posted January 13, 2011 Gatton DZ aircraft Gatton DZ went under. lots of equipment lost plus the aircraft. they could have saved all the equipment but the cops came at midnight and forcibly removed the crew while they were loading up all they needed was another 15 minutes to get everything up to higher level.
