Pud No. I'll be one of the ground crew. There will be a NOTAM but I suspect that there will be a number of people flying down for day trips, etc. So come down. pudestcon Posted January 13, 2012 Share Posted January 13, 2012 Well I called in to Narrogin Airfield and sat in on the briefing - very interesting, especially the amount of detailed weather information provided. I spoke with a couple of guys including Denis Macneall, ex RAAF pilot who did a tour (s) of duty in Vietnam. He was competing in the championships in his Pik 20 (I think??). Her's a couple of photos of his self launching glider. Denis says this is a 505 Rotax It winds down manually (15 turns of the lever) into the fuselage behind the cockpit. I guess the wether forecast cannot always be 100%. Opinions on the usefulness of RASP and SoarCast etc tend to have theological characteristics. But, no dought, both are sometimes right and wrong. IIRC the forecast TOL was pretty good on that day. The weather forecast you saw was typical of the detail that we look at every day the club is flying.
