Guest Maj Millard
Just read the new ATSB report which you can access by tapping on 'news' above. The very short and sweet report in a nutshell listed 107 accidents, 195 serious incidents, and 7,300 + incidents for all VH regos aircraft. 540 foreign regoed aircraft incidences, and 274 incidences for recreational aircraft. The breakdown of the recreational incidences were ; controlled airspace incursions, engine malfunctions, aircraft control problems, and runway events such as veer-offs. Maybe we are not doing that bad after all when compared to the big picture.....worth a read , but I wouldn't 't bother sitting down as it doesn't take that long !...................Maj... turboplanner
At least we know that 107 reports have been databased for accidents, now just need a trigger to search, like AC name, or location. Sometimes you pick up a string of data by accident; I was searching for Dash 8's for some research, and was staggered at the number of proximity issues they get into. Guest Maj Millard
Thing is the Dash 8 s are everywhere especially in country areas. I was inbound to Charleville a couple of years back and had to hold off for one, who insisted on continuing straight in. We were talking from way out, and had good visual on each other. I wouldn't be surprised if once he got backup cruising in the cool air and bored , he probabily filled in a close proximity report, which it certainly wasn't !.........................Maj.......
