Nev25
Ive occasionally seen in movies an airport some where in USA where the runway goes over a major freeway. In other words the planes land on a bridge that goes over a road Can anyone tell me where it is
zedman
You may be thinking of Van Nuys in California.
Guest David C
I think the old Denver Stapleton Airport had a runway over a road from memory too .

slartibartfast
There are a quite a few around the country. The new 5th runway at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport crosses I285 and allows up to 18 lanes of traffic to pass underneath. There are lots of very wide freeways in Atlanta. Hartsfield is impressive to watch. At any one time you can see 2 planes landing at once in parallel runways, 2 more 60 seconds behind them, then 4 more behind them - all on final.
