I've recently watch a doco on the Tempest, and I think that I recall the old pilots pooh-poohing the story that V1's were tipped over with aircraft wing tips. The usual go was to shoot them down as this account tells.

I recall astonishing footage of V1 launches.

 

You could see the flashes of the motor 'winding up'. And as I recall, in one film frame the V1 was still there, in the next it just wasn't.

The tempests were most effective at shooting them down apparently,. . . they were robust enough to fly through the debris of an explosion ( According to the article )
