tvaner Posted March 5, 2008 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Having grown up in town next to the East Sale RAAF base and watching the assortment of aircraft from Winjeels to the majestic and mysterious U2’s come and go, and eagerly attending open days when they occurred, it’s not hard to believe that I’m an aviation nut who has had a life long aspiration to learn how to fly and a love of all things aviation. I suppose it didn’t help that the RAAF aerobatic team was, and still is, based there and practice in the area regularly. Last June during a conversation over a few reds at a family do with a mate (Bill), who also happens to be an RA pilot, I was asked, “if there were somewhere you would like to go, where would that be?†Now, now be nice. Seriously, how do you respond to a question like that? After some thought and further discussion the idea was hatched to attend a Temora Flying Weekend. Initially the plan was to hire a Jab from Tooradin for the weekend and take our time and a date was set. This had to be postponed through illness and a new date in November was set. As the time drew near, Bill’s GA instructor expressed an interest so it was agreed to hire a twin for the weekend and all three of us would go. The Piper Seminole being loaded up. Accommodation in town is nigh on impossible on these weekends but we managed to secure a home stay with some retired locals and were treated like royalty. Travel to & from the airport and a great breakfast Sunday morning. Temora Airfield on departure. [ATTACH]5133.vB[/ATTACH] The trip home was uneventful and total flying time was 3.7hrs. For those that have been to one of these weekends, I think they would agree they are a must see when you have the opportunity. The variety ie. Matt Posted March 11, 2008 Share Posted March 11, 2008 Point Cook Airshow Finally some internet access!!! Here's some taken at the Point Cook Airshow at the end of last month. A pair of Mustangs...there was actually in the formation but only got a good shot with 2 of them...and of course I managed to get a CT4 in the picture as well, see if you can spot it ;) And now for the CT4s, we are hoping to have at least 3 or 4 in a regular formation team later in the year. #77 in the below three pictures is the RAAF Museum's aircraft, the other aircraft is #44 owned by Murray Wallace of Gisborne who keeps his aircraft at Kyneton. I was wandering around NatFly on Saturday evening and thought I would grab a few snaps of something other than aircraft. I came up with this. I think it captures the moment as the sun goes down on NatFly for another year. The photo was taken on Saturday evening which, for all intents and purposes, is the last night of NatFly. The first one in Australia underwent examination for its C of A at Camden today, 25/3/08. It is being registered as 24-5400, not VH-LUF as originally intended. Details of this a/c: Model Colyaer Freedom S100 Serial No 130-001-036 Manufactured December 2007 Engine: Rotax 912 ULS(100CV) - config 3 with PSU Prop: Airmaster AP232 with AC200 controller. It has a glass cockpit. The seating position is more upright than, say, a Jabiru. It rained at Camden before work was finished today. Perhaps it will be ready for its first flight tomorrow. old man emu Posted March 25, 2008 Share Posted March 25, 2008 Yep. It was released from Customs on Friday and driven up to Narromine on Saturday for display. That's why it didn't fly. It came back to Camden on Sunday night and the designer, importer and others set about completing its C of A. When I left work, they were trying to figure out how to raise it of the ground so they could cycle the undercarriage. It has been raining here at Camden since mid-afternoon. I honestly thought they were bigger. The warrior was getting ready to go out and do its bird scaring duties at 7am. The murray always looks good from the air. The tiger moth is in pristine condition and the bloke who owns it spends as much time cleaning it as he does flying it.
