Crash at Warnervale YWVA

Recommended Posts

Just got this info today. It happened this morning.

A man has walked away from his burning plane with only minor injuries, after an aborted take off at Warnervale on the Central Coast.

The single engine Jake Special, was taking off to the south and had briefly become airborne, when the pilot realised the aircraft was on fire. He managed to make an emergency landing, bringing the plane to rest about 500 metres south of the tarmac.

The 29-year-old pilot from Hamlyn Terrace, suffered minor burns to his face and was taken to Wyong Hospital for treatment. He was the only person aboard the single engine plane.

Fire services were unable to save the plane which was destroyed in the blaze.

Police have referred the matter to Air Safety Investigators.
