  1. I have been flying my sk for 4 years and I love it. I have experience on piper warriors, cubs, Cessna 152 and 172, tiger moths katanas and others. the sk is by far the most economical and just as rewarding fly. It is a responsive, predictable, well behaved and easy to fly aircraft which once mastered makes flying many other types feel like riding a tricycle. Yes , it may be a little demanding to start off but there is nothing challenging, mystical or frightening about its handling and is by far a stronger and better designed airframe that most aircraft of the category out there. It comes down to learning to fly with stick and rudder instead of just stick! I have heard of problem on finals but following around four hours training, I found it very easy to nail down my approach speed to 60kts with full flaps and keep it on centre line. Full flaps and trim all the way back settles the aircraft at 60-62 lts with plenty of control to flare so landing is a doddle. The important part of flying an lsa Is use of the rudder and co-ordination with ailerons and ensuring you a have a trickle of power all the way down. My personal view is that the jabiru sk or lsa is a great little aircraft that needs to be flown unlike the typical trainer and once mastered will provide you with the skills and confidence to fly anything. Bad design? Absolute rubbish, more like bad piloting ...
  2. http://www.microair.com.au/admin/uploads/HumiditySusceptibilityM760.pdf With regards to the above advisory, I have the same problem on my M760 serial number 13491 (that is well outside the serial number range quoted). I am disappointed as I have had the radio since September and only managed 1 flight! I spoke to Graham at microair who was very apologetic and helpful. He recommended I send the set to Rick at Microair USA. He tested the set over and over again as well as completing environmental testing (which should have captured the fault) however, he could not see anything wrong with it so he sent it back to me. I fitted the radio in early December and tested it. All seemed OK. The plane was grounded till early February. On it's maiden flight with the newly returned faultless unit, guess what? It failed .... I did some testing at hole. The issue is intermittent. When the radio goes wrong it is useless. There is also another problem with the channel memory. Entering new frequencies works fine, but I was unable to change frequencies. The radio froze just after entering new frequency. Only way to get radio going again was to power off. Apparently this is fixed with firmware release 1.4.2. It has now gone to Australia. Hopefully this will be it's last flight without me ... Pains of piloting!

  4. Hello Mardy, not sure if you got my email. Thanks for the info. Yes, I would be interested in the excel spreadsheet with calculations. Copies of the correspondence from jabiru may also help. If I have sufficient evidence backing up the weight increase, it will make it far easier to get the request through the LAA. Thank you.
  5. Hello Marty, i run an sk in the uk and would like to know what MTOW tour sk was signed off at. We seem to be stuck at 430kg here as there are reservations on wing holds on fuselage. Any info that may help getKung uk sk's up rated would be welcome. regards dean ps: I love mine. Following a couple of hours familiarisation, I was away. Great flying and performance at a very reasonable price.
  6. Ahh jabiru ... If only they would listen. It's no wonder sales have, plummeted. Good plane but rubbish worldwide service. Sorry to say the cookie has crumbled for jab au ...
  7. I recently fitted new generic pads on my SK and braking is very impressive. The pads should fit the older jabiru's ( SK, J, SP and UL types) with the old brake assy. They are available from www.partsforaircraft.co.uk. Price is competitive. See attached images, it's amazing the difference that better materials and design can make (originals are darker and without form!) ...
  8. thanks chaps, well, we seem to have a bit of a problem with our local Jabiru agent here in the uk. i understand that Jabiru AU will not process UK orders so I am a little stuck. hence, as parts are available from automotive suppliers, my question. this may sound a little cheeky but would anyone out there get me a set over? I can sort out payment and would be eternally grateful. could send you a photo of the royal wedding as an incentive ... many thanx, dean

    Jab SK MTOW

Jabiru sk mtow Hi Andrew, I have a Jabiru SK at Rayne (north of London). I got your details from the Jabiru UK website and was wondering if you could forward me your copy of the documentation that you submitted to upgrade the MTOW of your Jabiru SK. I would also like to know if you could supply the aluminium cups or technical drawings with measurements you made for the rubber mounts as I need a set for my AC. Much appreciated and thanks regards Dean Licheri
  11. hi jabby, i have a Jab 2200 SK. Please send me details on the brake upgrade as i desperatelly need to put a stop to my brakeing problems! my email address is [email protected]
  12. Hi, I have a Jabiru SK 2200 with the between your legs throttle arrangement. It has the three piece dash fitted. iI would like to move the throttle to the dash but do not want to go through the extensive work and expense as well as certification of a new style dash which incorporates a throttle. I have heard of a possible mod carried out to a number of jabs in au. Does anyone have details of the mod to move the throttle to the dash on older models? If so is there and documentation and images available. any info appreciated. thanks in advance Dean
  13. Jabiru 2200 engine conks out on landing while rolling Hi Mike, I have exactly the same problem. On approach engine rpm is around 1400-1700, touch down and throttle back, she goes below 900 RPM and sometimes stops. I have tried to reproduce the problem on the ground, but cant seem to. I have tried various levels of carb heat, mags and fuel pump settings, I understand you cleaned out your idle jet system. Do you have instructions on how to do that? I would like to check mine out. I do not use mogas on my engine, only avgas.... appreciated in advance Dean http://jabiru.iscool.net
  14. Hi there fellow aviators, Just wondering. According to weight and balance, my aircraft is 270 Kg empty. Maximum MTOW is 430kg. With full tank, and my 70Kg, I have approx 55kg for passenger. I heard somewhere that SK airframe is certified to 450Kg in australia. Is that so? Are there any mods required ? many thanks diablo
  15. Hi there, I have a question about Jabiru SK maintenance. Is there an idiots guide available on the internet that details maintenance tasks to be carried out on the Jabiru at 25/50/100 hour intervals? What I am looking for a compact guide that details tasks and recommended spares (such as oil filters/air filter/lubrication product and consumables) that should be used for each specific task. many thanks diablo :kboom:
