Not sure where the $45000 came from unless your talking US$. A compete kit is just under $90k inc gst

Wow!

at $90k incl GST it’s about the same as a Medway LSA rolled out of the factory and sittin in a container for shipping  ... the UK certified factory built version of the predecessor is a lighter and less capable aircraft than the bushcat

But wow!

Or you could pay between $85k to $105k for an Aircreation or P&M trike.  Wow

Ok I don’t know why evil is muddying up the waters but here is the breakdown:

~$90,000 gets you a turnkey Bushcat ready to fly away, it even has the engine. You go to the dealer and fly it home. Because it is not a kit.

~$45,000 gets you a kit (which is what Dave was asking about). The kit gets you an un-assembled aircraft. In Australia what we generally mean by a kit is an un-assembled product. In this case, it consists of five crates containing all the parts required to build the aircraft, but not including the engine, propeller or instruments.

~$25,000 gets you a new Rotax 912

~$1500 gets you a propeller

~$1 - infinite is how how much you might spend on the instruments ?

i hope this clears up any confusion about the definition of ‘kit’.

Definition of "kit" is what is being bandied about here. A "kit" is invariably and universally recognised as being the materials to build the aircraft - LESS the engine, prop and instruments.

There are very few aircraft manufacturers offering a "complete kit", because one manufacturer rarely builds the airframe, the engine, the prop, and the instruments.

The engine, prop and instruments have to be purchased from other manufacturers, so an airframe manufacturer is not going to supply engine, prop and instruments in a kit, without getting a finger in the pie.

99% of kit builders prefer to keep open their individual choices of engine, prop and instruments - and keep their costs down by negotiating directly with manufacturers of the individual components.

Possibly the only exception to the general kit rule, is Chipper, who manufacture instruments as well as airframe kits, and who will offer you a special deal to buy their airframe, with their instruments.

My BushCat KIT came with prop, instruments, and engine.  All supplied by GAP Aviation in QLD

Like onetrack just said- the kit doesn’t come with an engine propeller or instruments. Those parts came from GAP, who also supplied you the kit. From

GAP you bought 1 x Bushcat kit, 1 x engine and 1 x instrument panel which I assume Errol made. I’ve seen some of his panels and they are great.

I’ll say it just one more time , the BushCat kit can be ordered ex factory including propeller, engine and a choice of around 8 instrument panels. Depending on avionics the price can be up to $90k

Suggest those interested contact Errol direct at GAP rather than wasting time on this forum like I have just done

Just thought I'd update about the stall fix kit, for want of a better word. It is extremely comprehensive, not just a bag of vortex generators as was the speculation. The tailplane surfaces are all larger, and come pre covered. The trim tab is much more aerodynamic now, being a build up aluminium affair with appropriate thickness as opposed to just a flat metal plate. Trim Lever is also more substantial to allow for more movement. The rudder has an anti balance tab now as well. Vertical stab is a bit taller, and there is a small dorsal fin. There is also a very nice pitot tube to allow for more accurate airspeed readings. It also has a static tube as well, there wasn't one before.

There are some aluminium fences for the ailerons.

There are also some fuselage brackets that need updating, I assume because of the different loadings caused by the new empennage.

Also all stickers that may need to be updated due to the changes. And a fuel filler kit so you can fill up from outside the aircraft.

Every single thing that needs to be replaced is in the kit, down to the last nut, lace and cable tie.
