ASIC renewal

Not if you don't do it frequently? See operational need.

But there is no mechanism for infrequent users so you must get an ASIC. Flight crew must have an ASIC if airside. Only passengers may be escorted by an holder of an ASIC. You are airside once the wheels touch down. So-called temporary ones VIC have rules making them useless for visitors who fly in.

Allowing "infrequent users" maybe the intention of the ASIC issuing body, but airport owners and operators make their own definition.

Generally, NO ASIC, NO ENTRY.....

Perhaps a bit like needing to show your drivers licence for ID to book into a motel.

Transport authorities never issued it for that purpose, but the motel management determine what's required to get a room.

The question of escorting your/our ASIC-less passengers..... I've looked and looked, but cannot find it to be true (or false) in the Transport Security Regulations.

That one has always interested me, never found the answer, I think it doesn't exist either way. Anyone found it?

I read that some fuel was stolen from an aircraft at Parkes recently. I am sure these low life's did not have an ASIC so how did they manage this at a "security" controlled airport ?

In Canberra, the airport has made the online training mandatory before they issue an ASIC. I'm pretty sure this is new and they are the only ones ... in the end I used another service agent and quelle suprise, mandatory training ... isn't. Also I saved about $40

No, in that case he must display a VIC (Visitors Card) at all times. Only passengers proceeding to or from an aircraft are ok. The whole thing is a crock.

We used to have suits coming through ATC land all the time with no ASIC, even friggen SANTA doing the rounds at Christmas, with no ASIC and in disguise. Out on the fire trucks, up in the tower, out on the tarmac. It's a joke. While that is allowed to continue unchecked, I aint playing. They can Juliet Alpha Mike it.
