I believe it was the Nat’s own John Anderson who ceded all responsibility from the Feds to the local councils for nearly all Australian regional and rural airports in order to save the Feds from the running costs.

That is nowhere near the full story. That story goes all the way back to the 1950s. This link below provides context. Start from page 14.

The world is mad!

 

Heading to Singapore today. Put me things in the security tray and stepped bravely through the scanner...ding!

 

Take jacket off....ding

 

Take belt off...ding.

 

Take hay off...ding

 

Take watch off...thank goodness...thought the pants and bra were next.

 

I go through court security most days...never a problem.

And if you go to Singapore, do NOT step over the red line until permission is granted...they still mete out capital punishment at Changi!

 

Strewth!!

 

I think I need to wear my Pensioners’ Association badge more conspicuously.
