  3. Looking at a trip to the Sunshine Coast and interested to know if Caloundra and Gympie are RAA friendly. Would be looking to park up for a fortnight or so.
  4. This is an old post but hopefully someone has a 55/3j pilot operating handbook online they can upload here.
  5. If you are experimental you could look at race car scat hose which is 1/4 of the price.
  6. With the cost of hangarage so high in the metro areas could it be an option to build a hangar at a regional location and RPT or train or drive for a weekend of flying. Camp in the hangar?
  7. There are bargains still to be had if you really want to get in the air on a budget.
  8. Who in Australia is doing the best price on a SkyEcho2?
  9. Here is my preferred way to remove fuel from wing tanks if I am not/havent using/used the aircraft for a few weeks. Simple.
  10. Can guarantee it's not certified, they are all over ebay etc. There are not many promoted for petrol and those that have the 60l min capacity range are $400 plus. Old mate had another chord which attached to the alligator clips to an anderson plug. Mostly he uses a small battery which sits in the box on the trolly using the alligator clips seen in the picture.
  11. Here's one to take for interest sake (definitely not a recommendation and bound to be controversial) on a trip last year through Victoria I spotted this set up. Uses a $95 ebay diesel/kerosene pump that was being regularly used solely for 98 and avgas in a Cessna. Mounted on an old shopping trolly his jerry cans either in the trolly or ute and Anderson plug on the aircraft to power the 12v pump. Apparently 20l empties in 30 secs, no leaks and works well. Pump, hoses and auto nozzle part of the package.
  12. AOPA would be interested to see that with the advocacy they are doing at the moment.

    J170D Production

What was the LSA55 pricetag new back in the 90s'. $170k for the 230 with kit is getting expensive.
  14. this image above is the wiring diagram from Jabiru and the r2013.0.2x is the non genuine. The wires come out of the regulator in differnt spots but all end up in the plug in the same configuration as the Jabiru diagram.
  15. this is a better view of the Jabiru/Kubota regulator wires.
  16. There are OEM Kubota regulators available, first pic is a random one I found online the second image is from a Jabiru. The colour of the wires are different in sequence on the Jab and the online versions. My question is do the pins in sequence perform the same job on 6 pin regulators or are the colour of the wires the indicator of function?

  18. All solo hours prior to certification are done under the direct supervision of the instructor who is required to be airside and contactable via radio. This includes solo circuits and training area flights. Most often there is no need for direct communication between student and instructor. Same applies for single seat BFRs.
  19. Correct, however, it is entirely reasonable that a new pilot would not just jump in a different aircraft, even if in the same category, after training in something different. It may be legal but it is not wise. Airmanship is the word which fits. BrendAn being in the position to learn to fly and own an aircraft is one of the most incredible gifts you can have if you love flying something you would already understand. Nice job.
  20. Primary training includes solo hours must be done in a 24, 55 or 23 registered ans L2 maintained aircraft. Nav an other endorsements can be done in 19 or owner maintained aircraft subject to the instructor being happy to climb on board with you.
  21. Jabiru fuel drain O-ring size. I took an o-ring off the fuel drain and took it to a local supplier. The 110 was too big so like for like this is what I installed. No leaks and did several aircraft. One early model Jab had a badly perished o-ring and did not survive removal, so was a good job done. Best supplier of course is Jabiru who I usually support for most items.
  22. Do you have a size for the O ring, I'm inspired to do the same.
  23. Only 17 aircraft for sale in the RAus members market currently, don't remember ever seeing so few l. Might be why some prices seem high to some. Don't seem unreasonable to me. https://aviationclassifieds.com.au/
  24. It's already a double standard for medicals. Maintenance and training requirements are to be different as well with the costs of administration by RAA to increase. As has been discussed elsewhere, compliance within the current GA and Recreational framework is a big issue in many locations already, this weight upgrade will add another layer confusion.
