  1. no probs, There is going to be some serious problems with the sponsors. whether they get there money back or not. but it really depends on what the exact reason is that its been cancelled for. yeah I hope they get it back on board for 2012 if they can't for next year. and I wonder if the city gets its money back because im pretty sure they have to pay for the rights to the air race. I wish I could find some more information but nothing as of yet.
  2. It appears that the Red bull air race has been cancelled for the entire 2011 season. all news articles are talking about the loss of money to the WA state which is very true but what about the loss of seeing a spectacular event for the people. Perth Red Bull race cancelled and all the other newspapers are saying the same thing over and over. but still no news on the RBAR website
  3. ah excellent the i(version) of ERSA. thanks for letting us know one was available. I have been waiting for ozRunways from the guy who did NAIPS. but now I will probably download your IERSA from the appstore. cheers
  4. its definitely fake. think about the timing. it overflies your head. the camera guy turns around and its still behind him????? but good effort all the same
  5. i believe it involves the release of highly volatile gasses Deskpilot
  6. i have been thinking about this lately since the thread started. I think it would be really good if you could have a decent content pages that has links to the appropriate pages. rather than having to scroll through the whole thing. and also BACK TO TOP at the end of each paragraph. just a though for anyone thinking about doing it
  7. hey burbles, first of all its a great idea, but what you need to look at is: is it practical? yes i believe so can you format it correctly? on a small screen like iphone or pda it might be a bit difficult, thats just my opinion. im pretty sure the same guy that did NAIPS for Iphone is doing an Ipad version of ERSA, I think im not 100% certain though. but if you did do it I am pretty sure quite a few people would download it or purchase it for convenience of always having it. I know I would personally. Jay
  8. haha best thing I heard all day
  9. Hey Ross thanks for that glowing review. that sounds like it could be great for me. ill have a bit of a look at it and check it out. hopefully someone can comment on the brightline bag.
  10. Thats ok but thanks for the reply Relfy. and it would be great if you could post up a bit of a review. I to love the clear prop specials and have taken many advantages of them I think there fantastic... I would love to buy it for the price but then hate for it to be to big or to small and then have to spend more money on another bag, cheers Jay
  11. Hello everyone, to the thread I have been in the market for a pilot bag for quite some time but havent purchased one yet, I wont bother you with the reasons. What I was wondering is: is the flight bag from flightline strong and sturdy? I already know its a fantastic price thanks to Ian and the clear prop shop, but price is of little concern. The site has its measurements but what I would like to know is what it is capable of carrying if anyone out there in sky land has one. on training navs and in future flights I want to carry: spare headset or 2 for others flying with me. backup radio. all maps not just appropriate maps so I know where they all are. ERSA. VFR guide. clip board for when on the ground. bottle of water, phone, keys, wallet, sunglasses. potentially the AIP so I have it on hand. oh and in the future probably a mini notebook for a multitude of reasons. while I want lots of room I dont want it to big but I would like a bit of space. One bag I was looking at that looks very smart compact and full of space is the brightline bag: BrightLine Bags: Buy Flight Bags, Pilot Bags, Aviation Bags, For sale, California. :score007:to and :score008: is what I would give the brightline on looks alone. So if anyone has any info and would like to help it would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou in advance. Jay
  12. tomo danger areas arent prohibited at all you can fly through them its just that a danger area to keep a special look out while transiting. and restricted areas are just that restricted but you do not need permission from a person or body. check notams and ERSA some are only restricted at certain parts of the day, week or month.
  13. $50 for something aviation related is a fantastic price. it doesnt matter whether its hiring a plane or hiring an instructor, buying pilot gear or a plane we all know this is an expensive industry. at least you know your covered now Tomo
  14. whats really unfortunate is someone who is just starting out and then gets them thrown on them I could easily see a few people not even bothering. me I was 35 hours in and committed when I got them thrown in my lap. but slowly they will sink in.
  15. im not familiar with the RA rules but are RA pilots allowed through danger areas or restricted areas when they are not active??? could this be what they mean by lifting "restricted airspace"
  16. your dead right there bass haha i was just having a look at the CAR's and there is no mention of an SPL written in there that I can see that is needed before you go solo. im working through to my ppl cyber exam very soon and readin the CAR's is doing my head in. I know exemptions have meaning but why not rewrite the regs and orders now without all the confusing exemptions haha. but what are they going to do nothing haha.
  17. im not sure about converting from RA to GA but as far as needing an SPL before you go solo I am pretty sure it is mandatory : from the casa website : Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Stages in becoming a pilot third paragraph down in the introduction to flying training and the flying school.
  18. battery looks to last for about 2.5 hours according to website which I dont think is that good. G forces shouldnt affect the camera at all and the motorsport go pro will handle the bumps from turbulence easily. I did see another camera on a site that sells the Gopro so check that out aswell if you get time. : VHoldR ContourHD 1080P Helmet Camera | Launch Helmet Cams
  19. if your going to get a normal camera that can be used for every day things get a tough one. the new olympus 8010 is $403 delivered from ebay waterproof to 10m and if its anything like the 8000 i can vouch for it drop proof from 2m and crush proof to 100kg and handles -10 degrees celcius. it is 14.2Mp and now it does HD video, my 8000 doesnt but the quality is just fine.
  20. yeah batteries can get pretty expensive. best bet is to contact them and see what they have to say about rechargable batteries as some electronic components aren't fans of them. other option is buy batteries in bulk and you will be just fine.
  21. the go pro camera is pretty kick a$$ but you do pay for it. one of the car forums i use the administrator did a pretty godo write up and had some video footage of the results: HD 1080p Helmet/Car/Plane Cam A must For All!
  22. the gorilla pod legs are very flexible and bend around almost anything. i used it in a boomerang and wrapped a smaller version around one of the steel bars behind the two seats. you can contort it in many different ways so its as stable as you want it to be. most big stores sell them like big w so go in and check them out. but first thing is pick your camera your going to use first: this is the specs and info on my camera Olympus Australia | Digital Cameras | Digital SLR | Digital Lenses | xD Cards - Mju Tough 8000 details
