  1. Hi All! Have been drooling over a particularly lovely example of a flying machine the last few weeks. The Pietenpol Aircamper to be specific. I was wondering if there were any examples around SE QLD. Any details would be fantastic, PM would be great. I ask as I would really like to have a bit of a play in one, if anyone will let me :). Thanks j3
  2. An ASIC carrying passenger may be carried up front at the Captains discretion. Trust me :) :) :) :) It requires organisation prior to waltzing down the aerobridge though.
  3. There are some really good replies here. I will add my opinion to the Recreational Aviation basket. If you would like to go and commit commercial aviation, you will have to pay for the privilege.
  4. Good Call guys, I have a good one when knockin around, If there are doubts, then there are no doubts. I know within reason, but if you're not 100% sure, then just park it. j3
  5. I do see where you are coming from RE: idiots on both sides of the fence. However, in saying that, the PPL's are already on the GA/CTA side of the fence. Deliberate rule breaches (according to Mr. Ungerman) by RAA pilots (even though a small minority) really did spoil it for you all. I feel for you in some ways. Ultralights, I agree that the GAAP amendments are ridiculous, but can't be the primary reason for the denial of the CTA endorsement. Happy flying guys j3 P.S. This post was not intended to provoke prod or annoy anyone on this site, apologies if it did, was not my intention
  6. Turbo, the funny thing about what you say about XXX is I'm pretty sure he's RAA ticketed...happy to be corrected though. Qwerty, I agree with some of your post, but unfortunately there will always be an us and them mentality, human nature unfortunately. Cmon guys, not all bad, its just a little more expense if you really wanted to go through CTA, no-body has banned you, you just gotta get your PPL that's all...
  7. Correct sir, not here to RAAus bash, just here for a bit of a look...
  8. Hi, New to the site, been RAAus converted now for about 2 months, really enjoy being able to do what I want when flying RAAus, instead of flying in straight lines as part of my day job. Flying mainly out of SE Qld. j3
  9. Speaking as a primarily GA pilot (And only in my humble opinion of course), there is one main reason a great deal of RAAus aircraft aren't respected. The reason is radio calls. If I hear a smooth calm collected voice (even if they're a bit hard to hear over the wind or engine) giving me a position that is well known (not over Bob's farm) and an eta to the field or other intentions, I am a great deal more likely to trust that aircraft. The flip side is a radio call that requires me to question the pilot on his intentions, position (as I don't know Bob even though I'm a local pilot) and eta. The latter radio call makes me question the pilot's training and situaitonal awareness and puts me more on edge when arriving into the circuit. In my humble experience, I have found that RAAus radio calls generally could use some work, not meaning to have a go, just offerring some advice. I believe that if that aspect, along with Situational Awareness could be improved, you might see the way the RAA are viewed increase somewhat... j3
  10. That was a really good post skybum. It is up to each and every RAAus pilot (and GA) to do something about it. I have been in the position where I knew a cowboy on the airstrip and did/said nothing...he wrote himself and his passenger off in his trike and I always think...could I have changed that...
