  1. 2021 BRISBANE AIRSHOW POSTPONED NEW AIRSHOW DATES 16th & 17th of OCTOBER 2021 Owing to recent lockdown restrictions beyond our control, it is with deep regret that we must announce that the Brisbane Airshow, due to take place at the Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield over the coming weekend of the 3rd and 4th of July 2021, has been postponed. Based on these restrictions and our commitment to deliver a safe Airshow, the event has been postponed to the weekend of the 16th and 17th of OCTOBER 2021. Government imposed COVID lockdown restrictions, designed to reduce the increasing risk of the Delta and Alpha variants of COVID, now prevents key flight crew, Aviation Expo, Display Aircraft, and patrons from attending the show. This directly affects our ability to deliver a safe airshow. The aggressive nature of the COVID Delta variant and the inevitable disruption to this weekend’s event schedule, has moved us to adopt a stance which supports our community’s health and our commitment to deliver a quality Airshow. PLEASE JOIN FORCES WITH US, POSTPONE and GET A JAB COVID requires a collective response. Please ‘roll’ with us to the 16th and 17th of October 2021 and enjoy one of Australia’s finest Airshows, where we will be better placed to deliver a healthier, safer, wider immunised airshow. We want to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters, patrons, suppliers, and aeronautical fans for their contribution to the Brisbane Airshow. Without your support the show simply could not go on. The postponement options available to you are as follows: • Keep your current ticket and turn up on the corresponding dates in OCTOBER 2021, or • Apply for a refund. 3. The Cessna behind the Cirrus was the student on his first solo. The shirt back has a hilarious picture drawn on it. Definitely a solo to remember.
  4. The plane is on Rotecs website. Maybe not the best advertising now. It has a cowl but it looks like he can can also fly without it. ef523b_b40a8ea790994a8da12f5ee52b5839f2_mv2_d_2048_1365_s_2.webp ef523b_f3ad7b4d71e94f8ca4623b2bfedded4a_mv2.webp
  5. So it turns out im Autistic. I went solo back in 2012 but it took a lot of training to get that far. I ran outta money to finish my certificate but I'm in a better financial position and want to get back into it. I've since been diagnosed and I know why I had trouble with some parts of learning to fly. Is there any other Aspie pilots out there? Do you have any tips on how to overcome the problems that come with Autism? The two main problems were saying out loud what I was doing to the instructor and the spacial recognition in relation to when to flare.
  6. The photos show it was Danny's homebuilt. Coominya Flight Training I'm glad he is doing well, all things considered. I really feel for the work he put into the plane. I'd rather loose a limb than loose something I put my heart and soul into. Then again, I haven't started building yet so I might wanna burn the thing by the time it's done.
  7. Its not exactly the STOL machine it looks like if it has trouble keeping the stall speed under 45kts
  8. Stalking the forums and your Facebook page for evidence of illegal (fun) activities. ️‍♂️
  9. Has anyone seen the leaked email they're talking about in this article from Australian Flying? Weight Increase for Ra-Aus?
  10. I'm bumping this thread in response to the new one about the MTOW increase. This was 12 years ago!! Don't hold your breath guys.
  11. Yes. Pilot and one passenger. I should have mentioned he said RPL also INCLUDES controlled airspace, except eperemental etc. I'm just repeating what casa have said, which means nothing untill it's in writing...
  12. Sometimes I wish I had a voice recorder. It was something about the GPS chip.
  13. At the Casa safety seminar they had a small slide show of some up coming changes. One of which was the RPL and it's restrictions. It will be limited to Day VFR, single pax, mtow 1500kg and the drivers licence medical. The pilots who want to 'downgrade' will need to tell casa. The thing is they still need to go to there GP every two year to get a certificate saying there healthy enough to drive. That doesn't sound that bad untill talking afterwards when he said RAA will be getting the GP medical requirement too.
  14. Tonight when I was at the Archrfield Safety seminar I brought up the subject of Electronic Flight Bags and they said the iPad/iPhone (or android if you like to be different) are classed as "Electronic Chart Depiction" not EFB's. I can't really see the difference but there not approved for navigation etc, only for charts and books, that nomally go in your flight bag???
  15. Today I done my first unassisted landing. It was such a great feeling of achievement. I then followed it up with another 6 circuits with my cfi only touching the stick once. I'm still along way from soloing but it's good to know im progressing.
  16. So there's still a chance I'll get mine eventually. I was giving up hope.
  17. Today I walked past the Newsagents I used to get the mag from when I was a 'lurker' so I decided to see if they had the mag yet. I found it there with the newsagents sticker saying they got it in the 10th. I got last months quick because it came with my certificate and tech manual. I think I'd rather have a discount to not get the mag and buy it myself earlier.
  18. It's well beyond "Recreational Falling". With a glide ratio like that he'll only need a small jet pack to maintain straight and level. And I don't like his chances of landing without a chute.
  19. But still, that means ours arent far behind. The new magazine team are doing a great job.
  20. The Mag's out on the first day of the month? I'm already impressed!
  21. I just flicked over to Mythbusters on 7mate and seen them loading a 583 in the car. There trying to build some kind of "hover-copter".
  22. I won't say welcome because it looks like you've been here longer than me, but Congratulations on your 1st post. Just 4 more and you can loose the 'new member' banner.
  23. I got into Bundy tonight. Looking forward to tommorow.
  24. Today i went up for my second lesson, before i left home i checked the weather radar which showed that a morning storm had gone past but was all clear behind it. On my way i called Amberly weather which said 9700 overcast but no rain and calm wind. After the prestart we fired it up and started to taxi just as it started to rain... It was really light but we put the plane back in the hangar to wait it out. We ended up waiting 2 hours for it to clear and by then a nice cross wind had picked-up so we used the 400m cross-strip. We done more work on S&L and 30* turns which was alot harder this time because we were getting blowen around and there was some rough turbulance. Tracking towards landmarks was really fun with the crosswind. Into the wind the GPS was showing 40kn ground speed while the ASI was showing 80kn. Also while we were waiting i passed my first test on flight radio then proceded to forget the "...Traffic" on my taxi call. Chris Kent.
