  1. Awesome news on the Solo Geoff, and you're still here to tell us about it. Not many things in life can jam all of those emotions in one short experience. Well done mate. Keep us posted.
  2. Welcome Geoff. Many of us are late starters. Life tends to get in the way. Peter008 is right about the first solo, it will stay with you for a long long time. It seems few instructors will tell you when they think you are ready and spring it on you. You'll find this flying business makes more sense if you don't allow too long a gap between lessons. Enjoy, welcome and be safe
  3. What an awesome adventure that must have been, Just a little bit jelous though...

    Imported Item

Umm, not wanting to start a bun fight... But I searched for it on the RA-Aus web site and it's not listed or invalid.
  8. Familiar story Diddy. Life has gotten in the way for many of us. And welcome. Looking forward to your update on your progress.
  9. Very nice job. Both you and instructor should be proud. No bounce, no balooning. Hope you have many more like that.
  10. Hey Ben, What's been happening. Have you finished all your training with Ron. I am due to renew my certificate already. Have bought another plane - Pulsar SP100. Tell me about this CX4 Project. Give us a hoy when your in town.

Like the idea of building now just not the idea of not flying :(, But when its finished i can start a RV or something of the like then it dont matter how long it takes cause i can still get up. Ive moved down to cairns now (northern beaches) you were in Babinda where you not??
  11. There is an update to Falcon 4.0. It's called free falcon 5. It uses a polished version of the same source code as falcon 4. You might need to know a little about playing around with torrents and ISO's. But very worth it. I've read that they are soon to release free falcon 6. FF5 is free. You're right Pookemon the Wx in falcon 4 couldn't be modified and the flight model wasn't the best. Actually it was pretty crap, but in it's day it was hell cool. If there was a gun to my head and I had to choose it would have to be X-Plane 10.
  12. Was just popping in to get the word out about the new Microsoft Flight. I found the short rewarding flights good value. The physics model could be better but it is going to get better. We're all Beta testing it on mass without even knowing it. I thought the plane models were very good and the analytical data available at the press of a button to be very cool. But mainly it's the flight model that let it down, that said there are some intricate details of the physics model that are more accurate than FSX. (fly straight and level, roll left , watch compass ribon at the top of the screen) I am a huge fan of X-plane 9 for flight physics and it is completely hackable. They even tell you how in the manual so you can tweek it to your own specs. I agonised for days when I did try to justify to myself but glad I did and bought a Saitek 52x Joystick http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/x52pro.html if you want to check it out. Isn't it about time we organised a dedicated server flyin on FSX some time soon?
  13. It is in a sorry state, but great testimony to the job well done on the restoration. Since you've got photos worked out next will be video.
  14. Congrats on the rebuild Ron. Seems we're all keen to see photos. If you save the photos and but go to 'save as' then you should also be prompted to save the format also. JPEG is most common and good compression.
  15. Well done Lloyd, I especially like your line 'intolerably smug'... Hope you have many more
  16. Finally sat (and passed) the final nav/met exam after completing Nav hours and got the tick in the box... Huge thanks to Ron (I know you lurk around here) for all your instruction and the use of your beautiful Jab. Ron is a credit to his profession. Thanks also Frank, Geoff Carlo for your encouragement, advice and support. I would also like to thank my parents...my first grade teacher mrs Crocker....the academy... and all of the fabulous cast and crew...
  17. Meteorology exam doing my head in, anyone wanna earn an easy $50?
  18. Awsome munners. The buzz lasts a while doesn't it. Hope you nailed it.
  19. Welcome Greg. I'm back after the same amount of time. Doesn't it make you wonder why ya took so long. Who are you flying with and where?
  20. Fantastic nav today out of YIFL. Local Wx looked quite ordinary on departure. I had my cherry popped twice today - Flew through controlled air space and had to use transponder. Flew up to Wangetti out of controlled air space out to Green Island - Fitzroy Island - High Island and back to YIFL. It didn't look like it would be worth taking a camera, that was about my only mistake. The water was the stuff post cards are made of. Tomorrow should be my last nav. Now indulge me in my token smiley...
  21. Welcome John, Great that you finally got out and did it. I learned in a Drifter with Farri. They are a fantastic machine. To say Farri was a brilliant instructor would be understating his talant. And your flying in some brilliant country. Safe flying.
  22. Welcome Tex, Your one of us now. Too late to run!!
  23. Good on ya Mike. I did my first solo about 6 weeks ago and the high is only just wearing off now. Weird feeling isn't it doing that first circuit with no one to talk to and the passanger set with no-one in it. Hope you have many more.
  24. JG. Fantastic photos, must have been the trip of a lifetime. Thanks for sharing with us.
  25. I love it for it's accuracy. Not many simulators you can get in cesna 172 and get it into a slip and loose 1500fpm and not get the airspeed above 70kts with level wings.
