This was my C-150A Texas Tail Dragger - I bought it as a tricycle, bought a conversion kit and over several years did a major overhaul on airframe turning it into a baby 180. At the same time it was given a new(er) 0200 engine, bigger wheels and brakes and several other tidy ups. I sold it to a bloke who picked it up from me at Port Augusta S.A. and took it to W.A. to fly on a cattle station. I wonder how it looks now? Registration VH-DIA. Laurie

TryHi all,I am in the process of deciding which plane to purchase and build. Choices to date have ranged from Vans, sonex, and now possibly a Lightning. As for the Lightning, can anyone advise whether simple acro is a possibility?Thank you in advance for any responses!

hi jordyThe extra bit of perspex you have on your windscreen did you make that yourself? does it help to keep more of the breeze out of you face? my maxair drifter seems to have a lower windscreen than norm and I cope a fair whack of the wind on my whole body.
Bacon
Hey Bacon,
Yes to all. I start off using my hand on top of my screen whilst flying and checking how much buffeting it eliminated. Made up a rough template and shaped the material as per its performance. If the spoiler is too big it induces tail flutter (shake) and too small there is not enough protection. the same also applies to the angle. Good luck

Thank you Tex Will keep you posted.Nice pressie! I use a program called 'Format Factory' (free) to convert the mp4's to AVI files and then I just use Windows Movie Maker and add music in there as well. You can use Format Factory to change music files as well if you need to. I have tried Pinnacle Studio but it kept crashing on me... whatever you use make sure you SAVE YOUR PROJECT REGULARLY! They all crash some time or another usually when you are just about finished... -
Hey Tex,
Got myself the Hero 2 Go pro for Xmas Absolutley love it !!! no chance in the air yet but have taken some awesome underwater shots. What program do you use to edit and add the music ??

Thanks Frank,
Isn't it good to see so much conversation and interest in these lovely little birds.
I have another one (25 748) (One of the later WBs) at my place we are rebuilding and for sale eventually so at the momentwe are surrounded by drifters and their bits.

Hey Tex, we are about 40 kms up the coast from Yeppoon and just tucked away underneath Shoalwater military zone (dodging Singaporean Blawk Hawks as we speak !! ) Amazing flying and loads of interesting strips. Any idea how to contact Tim ??Thanks jordy, Where are you at?Small world alright... I know Tim from hang gliding! -
Interesting that the US government determines how many we keep!!!

Sorry guys forgot the words,
This is a couple of shots of my 2 girls and a friends Drifter 25 454 (Tim Osbourne )(anyone know where he is?) who flew it from Vic to central Qld where it now resides.
Maj Said.........." I am currently sharing my hangar with CB Drifter 25-352 which is ex-Rodds Bay. Strangely my Drifter was 25-452 ! "
And mine is 25 353, so we are getting pretty close to lining them all up Maj.
Tex, love the shots and the video's especially when you are land and we can see the legs pumping, and so many great strips. most of all loved the adventure. If you ever decide to do a coastal run, give me a call, we can offer tons of amazing beach flying and fishing. (Flyfishing ) Loads of accommodation and Maj and Ian are not that far up the coast.
Pud, i went to school at Keaney college , Bindoon and flogged old bonbs up and down that strip many a time, often wondered what it would be like to fly out of it. Then moved to Narrogin Ag opposite the other strip you mention............... This worlds getting smaller.

Living in the sub tropics we manage to attract an amazing array of varmits into protected area (sheds, hangers, planes) including a great influx of carpet snakes.
I've had the odd marsupial rat jump out while taxiing and wondered at the time if a rat can get in the pan what about the the thing that eats him??.......... Try taking off with this in the fore front of your mind.
So it goes with out saying that most engine warm ups now are exceeding long hoping to shake the sh......t out of anything that might bite.

Over flew a neighbourly strip a while ago with wires a couple of hundred off the end and notiiced he had painted the power poles white with a couple of stripes at the top... Amazingly effective !! Stood out like the proverbial dogs b....s.
