  1. Montana is a truly beautiful location for flying. I had a quick blast around Great Falls earlier in the year :-) Have fun, learn lots, fly safe!!
  2. Not low and slow, not RAAus not even PIC but so much fun:-) 20,000 feet, 270ktas
  3. Doubt it. The other concern is, what happens next time CASA makes a determination, if you have challenged them. Do they put more roadblocks in place, make things even harder or grease the wheels to keep you happy?
  4. I failed my class two medical due to depression. This was despite it being diagnosed as moderate. Four seperate psychiatrist reports stating that I was "fit to fly", we're all simply rejected by Avmed. I'm still legal in Ra Aus and a road train though. Seasons greetings all. Flying Librarian
  5. It will be a pleasure to join the ranks of fine pilots and riders. Just passed the P's for the bike. Now just have to avoid the cheese cutters, Armco and car drivers ;) Flying and Riding Librarian
  6. Hi Ayavner, sorry to have accidentally hijacked your thread. All the best with your PPL, hope AvMed are easier to deal with for your renewal. David, djp etc. thankyou for the advice and discussion, I'll have to put an appeal in, and see if that works. :) Flying Librarian
  7. Congrats Ayavner, must be a relief to finally get it done and approved. Whilst on the subject, has anyone had any luck with appealing a decision to not allow a class 2? Or is it just a waste of time and money? FL
  8. I usually go to Narromine, that way avoids the Bungles and most of the Pilliga :) Don't know about Gil though sorry, FL
  9. Temora's Hudson even flew today, sounded almost as good as the spitfire :)
  10. My pax briefing usually includes very basic control column effects and use of the ptt button. I used to wonder if it was over kill. Not any more. Flying Librarian
  11. Thanks Geoff (captain) I'll see you on the road or in the sky perhaps FL
  12. Hi to all the motorbike pilots. I just got my licence to learn to ride. Anyone have any advice regarding type or model of bike to buy or rent. Earlier posts suggest to avoid underpowered bikes, I'm 105 kgs and want to cruise and go to work etc. Thanks in advance. Flying Librarian
  13. You tube Christmas trees 2011 for the cockpit view :)
  14. Hi Timbo, give us a bell when you are here. I might be around. Where's the property?? Flying Librarian
  15. Got to say that I have made use of Delta, Dyson-Holland, and Bob Tait texts. I would rate them personally Bob Tait, then Dyson and then Delta. No offence to Delta but I found the structure of the books to be convoluted. The text (book) seemed to be in a per flight lesson format. I personally prefer to learn my theory in a per subject format. Please note that this is from memory as I haven't looked at the Delta text for quite some time and it may have changed considerably since then. Fly Safe FL
  16. hey Maj, A mate of mine is looking to sell one. It has a Rotec Radial motor. Pm me and I'll give you his number. That is if your mate is still looking for one. FL
  17. Would I be correct in assuming that whilst this idea saves a little on rudder usage, the elevators would need to be utilised more in order to make a level turn? Would it also cut down on the number of stall spins on base to final turns??
  18. Regarding BRS. Isn"t it just like all the other "safety systems" in vehicles these days, whether they be airborne or not. Between driver and passenger airbags, seatbelts, abs, ebs, stability control, collision avoidance systems. If you have the right training and have your mind on the job, you "should" never need these things. However, if the unforseen, unavoidable, or "some other idiot" causes an incident, you might just be in a situation where it comes in handy! FL
  19. Hi Kaz, The advantage of being a Librarian. I'll have to see if I have Squadron Airborne. Thanks FL
  20. Hi all. I just finished reading an autobiography called "fighter pilot". It's by ex RAAF F18 pilot Mac "Serge" Tucker. If anyone wants to read an aviation based book that is funny, insightful, and informative I can highly recommend this book. Cheers, happy reading and flying. FL
  21. G'day Gnome, Sorry just some self deprecating humour!! Although I did have a few "arrivals" when learning to judge the flare!! Loved 7155 and certainly miss it. Hope she is treating you well. FL
