What is the VA of the aircraft? In my 600kg max aircraft I can cruise at 115 ktas but rarely do as normally conditions can get quite rough at any time of the day. I can't imagine wanting to go at that speed in such a light plane.

Biggest issue you have there is choice between electrically dependant aircraft or not. Fuel injected engine shuts down pretty quick with no electrons flowing, and you pay a huge premium for the pleasure. Airframe and fuel system also has to take into account likely fuel return lines to tank, duplex fuel valves, high pressure fuel pumps operating continuously, associated high pressure lines and filters. Having said that, there is certainly a good case for using the iS. I have attached a good article about changing to the iS and associated issues and benefits. TheMagicofElectronicFuelInjection.pdf

Personally I think the carbie/magneto and coil ignition is the way to go, once running you are not relying on an electrical system to keep running. Electronic ignition and fuel injection is certainly a more efficient way to manage the engine but comes with its own requirements and associated maintenance and much higher install cost. How far do you want to fly, how much weight and really how much do you want to spend?

760 kg perfect for RV 9, if you want to fly high. Lyc 150 hp perfect for that.

Light aircraft crash near Palgrave, Qld. 19/10/23
dlegg replied to dlegg's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
Warwick to Palgrave direct is about 18nm, so only 10 mins or so flight time after taking off after refueling. So clearly catastrophic RIP -

The only other possible leak point on the jab is the oil cooler and hoses to it, all under 50 + psi. -

Has anyone found that the altitude is accurate using an ipad with ozrunways but always reads 100 ft higher with a samsung phone or tablet? -
Cleaning carbies/looking for blockages.. tips?
dlegg replied to danny_galaga's topic in Engines and Props
Like you say...".I guess I have to make a careful assessment of wear and tear first..". I'm a big fan of correctly identifying the fault first, before having a big collection of un needed expensive spare parts. -
Cleaning carbies/looking for blockages.. tips?
dlegg replied to danny_galaga's topic in Engines and Props
The fact that it starts and runs fine for 30 secs, I would be looking at the fuel delivery system. Next time run it, when it runs rough shut it down and remove the float bowls and see what fuel level is in there. Good starting point for diagnosis. -
Is that separate hangars on their own blocks, or a group of hangars in a row? My yearly cost is double that.

To repair or not repair a Skyview touch Screen
dlegg replied to Franky's topic in Instruments, Radios and Electronics
I sent an MGL efis to South Africa for repairs a while ago. When I received it back customs deemed it to now be worth same as new 1 and I had to pay high fees on so called import and duties and gst. I would make enquiries on this and see what they will charge you first. -

Ah bugger thanks. I have seen some 21's on 6in rims and was hoping....

Greetings all, I have 5.00x5 tyres and rims, I would like to go to 6in on mains. Looking at many confusing Tyre charts still none the wiser if I can get a 6in Tyre that will fit my 5in rims. Has anyone done this?

Not really much good to you if it's not being fed accurate pitot data etc. Standalone ipad sensors will give you GPS based ground speed and altitude and sensor based ahrs. Better than nothing but maybe get you on to trouble 1 day if relying on it. Ipads can be used to display efis information via Bluetooth or wifi if you want to go that way, Google search will give you a couple of supplier options.
