  1. Avid Explorer when it was in Taree in 2012.
  2. This site never fails to amaze me.............
  3. How dear are the brake shoes or pads? I know I would just replace both sets.
  4. Done the survey now let's see if and when we get a response from the company.
  5. And as in politics "The people have spoken, we have a Mandate" A good spin doctor will say "The vast majority are happy with our direction and performance " even if the positive responses are as low as 65% of the members surveyed.
  6. PapaFox and djpacro thanks for your informed information. Copy and pasted: 6.55 Exercise of privileges of flight crew licences etc (1) A person who holds a security designated authorisation must not perform a duty that is essential to the operation of an aircraft while the aircraft is in Australian territory if the Secretary: (a) has determined that the person has an adverse aviation security status; and (b) has given a copy of the determination to the person. Penalty: 20 penalty units. Note: A pilot licence, a flight engineer licence and a special pilot licence are security designated authorisations—see regulation 1.08 and the Act, section 74G. (2) Subject to subregulation (4), a person who is over 18, and holds a security designated authorisation, must not perform a duty that is essential to the operation of an aircraft while the aircraft is in Australian territory unless: (a) his or her aviation security status check is current; or (b) he or she has requested an aviation security status check. Penalty: 20 penalty units. (3) For paragraph (2)(a), a person’s aviation security status check is current at a particular time if: (a) it was carried out no more than 5 years before that time; or (b) he or she has requested that a new check be carried out; or © within the previous 2 years, he or she underwent a background check for the issue of an ASIC. (4) If a security designated authorisation is issued to a person who is under 18, subregulation (2) does not have effect in relation to him or her until 3 months after his or her 18th birthday. (2) says it all.
  7. I was told an alternate must be planed for every flight. The example given to me was if there is an incident at your destination, whether it is a private strip or not, and the runway is closed you need an alternate landing site. I was told it is one of the requirements that an ASIC must be carried with you in the plane on every flight. Once again I ask if there are any Instructors or CFIs that can confirm or deny that this is now the policy of RAAus.
  8. I was told by a CFI while doing a BFR that an ASIC is required in case I have to divert to an alternative landing site even though I use a private strip most of the time. Are there any instructors or CFIs that can confirm that is or isn't the new directions from the top?
  9. Trouble is that's all the public get to hear or read and that damages our reputation as responsible flyers.
  10. From the Peterson Aviation site this may help. AUSTRALIA To order STCs in Australia, contact: Dr. RJ Hodges PO Box 84 CHURCHILL Australia 3842 0407-360844 0356-292517
  11. So David why are there different sections and rules in all the constitutions and model rules that you and I have seen and operated under if the AGM is just another General Meeting? It may be normal to conduct the business of the AGM and then declare the meeting closed followed closely by a General Meeting (usually after a coffee and sanga break) but it would be in breach not to close the AGM first. What is not normal in the calling of this particular AGM is the fact that resolutions were also called for. Can you show us anywhere in the constitution that states members resolutions can be heard at an AGM? In fact it goes to the extent of stating resolutions at General Meetings. An AGM is not for conducting normal business. As stated in the constitution a member may ask questions or pass comments about the way the organisation has been run but to take any action or to put forward a resolution I believe it would need to be done at a General Meeting or Special General Meeting. I am not passing any opinion on anything that kasper is trying to do but would like to point out the need to dot your i's and cross your t's. Cheers Scotty.
  12. The AGM notice in the mag did indeed mention members resolutions and proxies. This is not normal for AGM's. They are to inform the members of the condition of the organisation and not consider any general business other than that ariseing from the minutes of the previous AGM. 27 and 28 of the Constitution are in regard to General Meetings and not AGM's. 20 of the constitution is in regard to Annual General Meetings and 20.4 states 20.4 The Chairman of the Annual General Meeting must give Members as a whole a reasonable opportunity at the meeting to ask questions or make comments about the management of the Company. but there is no mention of any resolutions. I believe the notice of the AGM that included the submitting of resolutions was incorrect as it is not the normal practice for an AGM. Cheers Scotty.
  13. General business is not discussed at AGM's . I would be worried if they refused your resolutions at the General Meeting held after the AGM. Cheers Scotty.
  14. From the recommendations I have Willis were competitively priced and from my conversations with them they were very helpful but that is now another ship that has sailed. Interesting you don't like PSB either Don. Do you believe it has been a good move to change to PSB if you feel they haven't delivered a good service or is this change been just priced based without looking at the big picture, or is there other forces at play here? Cheers Scotty.
  15. That is my understanding at this time. I wasn't able to get onto my other contact at Willis this afternoon to see what he has to say but I will try again tomorrow. Cheers Scotty.
  16. Finally got the chance to ring the office and was informed PSB take over as our insurance agents 31/ October. Was also told my complaint about Willis was not the first and they have been telling others the same they told me. I will try and contact a different person at Willis I have a contact for and see if I get the same story as before. Cheers Scotty.
  17. I was up for insurance and had been told of Willis so went to the web site to get the contact details. All the info I was looking for was there on the RAAus web site for me to use. Except it was not correct! This is the official first point of contact between it's members and the "company". You would like to think it would be correct. Have you had a look at the section on " meet our board"? Is that correct? There is only three board members as of tonight according to the site. We have been told as members have to get our info and keep up to date with the rules and regs by accessing the site as we don't get the mag anymore so l think the members would have the right to get the correct info in a timely manner. You would remember only to well the call for better communication David. It is a pity I got more info from Willis than our organisations official web site. Cheers Scotty
  18. The link on RAAus web site to obtain a new quote from Willis for aircraft insurance is still letting you fill out the form with all your info, but when you hit send button nothing happens. My info from Willis is the first they knew of this is from another insurance company and then a letter stating they had been sacked. No renegotiations or communication from RAAus until the "dear john". It appears RAAus were told by "the bloke from Red Bull to sack them."????? I was told if I couldn't get insurance elsewhere they would try to help me but they weren't keen on dealing with RAAus anymore. A comprehensive study was completed 25/7/2016 by Willis the day before they were sacked, and they were quite happy with how the business was going. Different attitude now. I have been told Willis have requested they be removed from RAAus's web site on more than one occasion but they are still listed as our insurance partners. As a member of RAAus I have been told it is up to me to keep informed of the latest developments and situations as we no longer are provided with a magazine so how do I do that, the web site. Nearly two months down the track and a major development such as the changing of our insurance providers is not noted on the web site, via email or in the news letter emails we have been told are being sent to keep us all informed. Not only aren't we informed but the wrong information is still on the official website of RAAus. Cheers Scotty.
  19. I have just been informed by a rep from Willis Towers Watson that they were terminated as RAAus's Insurance broking partner on the 26/7/2016. They no longer carry our Public Liability Insurance and will not therefor insure our aircraft. There contract with RAAus was two years into a three year term. They are still listed on RAAus's website as our insurance partners. Anyone through and light on this as I don't remember and notification of this from the Board or Ceo. Cheers Scotty.
  20. I have had a CFI stop the fan in a glide approach from base. We had already been doing circuits and we were not lined up to touch down on the piano keys but well after them. I felt it was a very safe situation and appropriate action as we were training for that very senerio. He restarted at about 100 ft which disappointed me as I wanted to continue with the dead stick landing. He said he was happy that I could have landed dead stick but for safety would restart the fan. In the right circumstances I believe that is appropriate training.
