  1. I've had 2 Altronics headsets giving the exact same problem. Its in the head set them selves. The problem is not there with other headsets (tried david Clark, Bose, Lightspeed, and a couple of others) Have tried ferrites, caps, changing lead lenghts, earthing, isolation transformers, isolating and changing earths (all in conjunction with a RF test set). They all changed the amount of RF feed back thru the Altronics headset, some better, some worse, but none never fully fixed the high pitched tone on TX. It was definitely RF induced feedback (as tested on the testset and using various RF power levels and loads). The Altronic headsets are now like Geoff's, sitting under the bench in the hanger. James
  2. Coalition released a aviation policy, couple of days ago. Worth a read http://lpaweb-static.s3.amazonaws.com/Coalition%202013%20Election%20Policy%20%E2%80%93%20Aviation%20%E2%80%93%20final.pdf
  3. I agree a lot with DWF's list, esp. about it being too spread out (its not easy to get around all the different planes, it's meant to be a fly'in), its needs to have the main program Saturday/ Sunday, and need a on ground unleaded refuelling option. There is a lot of rotax's out there (not sure if something was done this year, as I wasn't there) James
  4. Hi Mardy, This squeal can be from all sorts of issues. First, try a different set of headsets. This is the most common problem as not all headsets are compatiable with all intercoms. If this dosn't work, try putting a RF dummy load onto the ant socket of the radio. This will confirm whether it is a RF feed back problem or not. This is only a start, as there that many things that can be the fault from bad earth or power, audio settings, ant trouble, or even where wiring has been placed against one another. It going to be a slow process of elimination. Icom do have mic gain control, but I can't remember whether it was a scew adjustment or software adjustment for that model. James
  5. I done a little more reseach and found some updates. It appears to be a false alarm http://www.portnews.com.au/news/local/news/general/crash-what-crash-ultralight-mystery/2206092.aspx. Sorry about the post.
  6. It appears today wasn't a good to go flying. Another incident near Urunga, north coast NSW http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/fire-crews-at-ultra-light-plane-crash-scene-on-nsw-north-coast/story-e6frfku0-1226081244479:black_eye: Hopefully everyone is OK
  7. Has anyone managed to upload or down load flightplans and waypoints into a Garmin GDU370 (or C3x)? I cannot seem to be able to get this function to work on my unit.
  8. This one hit a little too close to home. The pilot was in the same industry as I am, and we had worked togeather on various jobs over the years. The passengers are related to one of my employee's. Very sad to what should have been a good day out.
