  1. Thanks. I'll ask the librarian if you have to own an ireader or iphone or if you can download them to an ordinary computer. Otherwise I'll follow up on the suggestion in the future - we've just got a regular prepaid mobile phone that doesn't connect to the internet - but when it breaks down I'll suggest to hubby that we get something flasher that downloads library books.
  2. Thanks. We don't have an ireader or iphone in our house yet, but I'll remember that when we get one.
  3. Thanks for the recommended reading suggestions everyone - I'll follow them all up. Actually I've heard of Enid Blyton and I think there are some lying around at my parents place - so I'll go dig them up and give them a go. Sorry to have joined your forum and created such a frivolous discussion - my naive line of reasoning was, the people who'd most likely have Biggles books would be people with a love for flying -- so ask them if they have any lying around they want to part with! Rob has kindly sent Josh two Biggles books - and I've placed an interlibrary loan for ten more to arrive at staggered intervals - much to the librarian's amusement - so we should have enough Biggles books to keep us going for a while. Thanks again everyone. Hubby Gary (the Biggles in our family) says he'll drop into your site now and again now we've discovered your forum - he knows more about aviation than me because he used to work on military and composite aircraft and he's got a private pilots license. Cheers. Linda, Gary and Josh
  4. Thanks for your reply rgmwa - I'm just trying to work out how to send a conversation, then I will contact you.
  5. Hey! At least I'm honest about why I've joined! Have you got a shelf full of dusty Biggles books your wife has been nagging you to rehome? I'm on the scab for Biggles books for a reluctant reader. Josh is 12 - and still struggling with reading. (Harry Potter works for some kids he's not interested in it.) A few months ago I read him Biggles and the Cruise of the Condor. It is one of the first books I can truly say he's loved. I found another Biggles book at the op shop (Biggles hunts big game) and we've found another Biggles book (Biggles of the fighter squadron) in the public library. Now I'm trying to locate more secondhand Biggles books (preferably free)- I don't mind what condition the Biggles books are in - well loved, torn covers and dog-eared is fine. We live south of Perth - so I am ideally looking for someone living not too far from me. If you have some Biggles books in your shed or gathering dust somewhere and are willing to part with them, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks kindly, Lindy
