  1. There was one in Wangaratta at the museum next to Clive Cannings T18 but that was a while back.
  2. Hi all I've spent the best part of today reading this thread. ( Its been raining most of the day in South Arm no point going outside) I have some questions I hope some one can answer! 1 how many 2200 engines have been manufactured 2 how many 2200 engines have failed 3 what is the breakdown of failures across the 3 common failure modes A Through bolt failure B exhaust valve failure C cylinder base flange cracking Cheers Shaun
  3. Just a link to the plating process http://www.nzcylinders.com/Our%20plating%20process.html
  4. My uncle and aunty had a similar experience in the mid 70s when they inadvertently landed their T18 at NAS Nowra in deteriorating weather. The reception party was not as well armed but equally as cross! After the situation was explained all was good and the duty watch was sent to the end of the runway to recover the wheel spats that had been torn off by the arrester wire. They where treated to lunch at the officers mess and given a tour of the base while they waited for the weather to clear. They then continued on with their circumnavigation of Oz with no further incident.
  5. I've just noticed that the fly safe tutorials by John Brandon are no longer accessible on the Ra Aus web site. Any one know if they where remove or is it just a web site malfunction?
  6. It was a doc'o on Area 51 and the radar testing that they where conducting on the SR71
  7. Fantastic looking aircraft Doug! I hope I can own one someday. Shaun
  8. What was the outcome of this Discussion paper from CASA, I have searched the CASA web site but I can not find any reference to the DP! . I understand that the MTOW for a RA-Aus registered AC is 600kg just interested to know why the 750-760kg proposition failed to get up. Thanks in advance for any information that will enlighten me.
  9. Just had the pleasure of watching my first Long EZ flying around my house in the training area at South Arm This is the first one I've seen in southern Tasmania. What a fantastic sight, Burt Rutan what a legend!
  10. It might just be a rumour then, my informant riding the RS1980 in the team is good at getting rumours started! He never let's the truth get in the way of a good story!
