  1. David, many thanks! looking forward to meeting you shortly. Tim.
  2. Glenn, Great- many thanks, it doesn't seem to onerous. I assume the medicals are roughly similar to USA (I've a current US Class 2; the Japanese Class 2 is quite different and much more involved...). I'll certainly be looking to convert once settled (and fortunately this will be close to Moorabbin). Cheers, Tim.
  3. Chuckle..... I think I probably will!
  4. Friends, How much pain and anguish (and perhaps money) is involved in converting US ratings to Australian nearest equivalents? In particular just private pilot, SE/L instrument would do for starters. Any advice and/or pointers to on-line information would be much appreciated! Tim.
  5. Thanks Matt and Speedbird...I feel very welcome. Now once the FBI clear my US background check and I board that Melbourne-bound Qantas 747....! Tim.
  6. Many thanks Robbo. Feeling quite at home already! Tim.
  7. Thanks Glenn, and apologies, I should have credited the Moorabbin airport site with the link to TAA.net! Tim.
  8. Greetings Aussie Aviators.... I'm a Brit, with USA commercial, multi-engine land, instrument, pilot certificates and Japanese private certificate, and soon to be migrating to Melbourne. Presently in China.... Most of my flying has been in the US mid west and East coast, with some in Hawaii and the Tokyo and Kanto areas of Japan. By occupation I am a materials researcher. I'm keen to convert my USA ratings to the Australian equivalents and get back to flying after several months break. And I'm looking forward to meeting other pilots in the area (perhaps at Moorabbin?).
