  1. Oh how I wish I had seen this thread earlier. This reminds me that I heard an interesting story from Temora too about someone. A certain high-ranking member of a certain organisation was walking past the stand of an RA-Aus member who was selling items from his pseudo pilot shop. The high-ranking member said "Good Morning Mr. X" or words to this effect. Mr. X replied back with a half dozen expletives to the high-ranking member calling him all sorts of names. Maybe you can guess who it was that was yelling out the expletives? (don't even write your answer here as we almost all already know the answer) PS: Here is a clue. It's the same person that verbally abused an aircraft importer (based on the type of aircraft he was selling) 2 Avalon's ago and by the end if his tirade was frothing at the mouth with a crowd of over a dozen people watching!
  2. Sorry but unfortunately that website hasn't closed down yet. It constantly gets stuffed up. One minute it's up, the next it's got a message saying that it's closed down because of some c-rap to do with a photo gallery or something. Opinionated dribble is a massive understatement. It's just a select few half dozen regular posters that's keeping the site and the dribble alive. The regular posters seem to be clashing now and there have been threads on there deleted that were questioning the heavy moderation on the site. Anyone would think it was a ticking time bomb.
  3. Spell it out, nobody will mind if you mention the name here...? There's one I hope will close down but unfortunately I don't think you are referring to that one.
  4. Which website is that? PM if you want.
  5. Vegas and the Canyon are always a good visit. Stayed at Xanterra lodges last time I was there, right next to the Canyon. Have to be careful not to fall over the edge if you sneak out during the night sleepwalking. It's very nice, if you're lucky a Deer might walk past. Not an overly exciting drive there, however Flagstaff was night. Flagstaff is where Collingwood go for their high altitude training each November.
  6. Nice Darren. Were you over there for OshKosh?
  7. Outside of a training environment - Speed Short takeoff Good fuel range Engine and airframe reliability Baggage space Low capital cost Low maintenance cost ... essentially, the holy grail is what pilots are after. This is a short list. For training operations, same things but in a very different priority.
  8. Thanks MC. There's a fact for you Tomo. Now Tomo, have a think to yourself now. Why would anyone other than the owner of this website register the above-named company? (note that the company name was registered long after this website was registered) Now that you have had a moment to ponder that, tell me how the registration of that particular business name matches the mission statement of the raaus and for the duties of the board member to promote aviation in general?
  9. Oh Tomo, ignorance can be such a useful thing when it suits you. This thread is not an "argument" as you put it. It is a compilation of facts from affected individuals and businesses. A little bit of research on your behalf would go a long way before suggesting that any of this is untrue. If any affected individual feels that the information provided here is incorrect, they are welcome to post although this website is likely to not allow certain individuals to log in as this may be one of those affected! To put your mind at rest just do a business name lookup on The Aussie Aviator Pty Ltd. After you have done that search, look at the link provided earlier with the raaus mission statement and tell me if you see a misalignment?
  10. Number 2 is easy. Just ask the CEO or President for confirmation. Perhaps even ask the individual involved, but good luck getting a response. Either that or if you are a member you can view the financial statements. Nothing listed here is a secret, you just need to know who to ask. Until now, any mention of such events has just been met with banning and attacks on individuals and businesses. Number 1 is a little tricky with the reference to "board" action taken - none to date. Unless you are mates with someone that works there you will get little information as they usually hide under their self made confidentially clauses. Members need to realise that not everything happens at the board level in this organisation. I fear that with the failure of all board members to sign the confidentiality agreement has resulted in them (the board) not being given the ability to make a difference to the organisation as the sensitive issues simply won't make it to the board for fear of the information becoming public in an inappropriate forum. What good is an ineffective board? Everything I've read thus far on this thread I personally believe is true and I have seen the evidence to suggest this on more that one occasion for each instance.
  11. Welcome! I take it that you've "seen the light."
  12. Sorry Moto, but you are wrong. The message won't sink in! By the way, don't ever think that when you use a website / forum that your private messages are actually private, they are not! I've heard of certain admins that frequently troll the Private Messages looking for juicy information and to check for any alliances etc between members/subscribers! Then if you are not careful, those messages can be used in evidence against you for all sorts of reasons.
  13. I offered advice on many occasion but if certain people didn't agree with me, it was removed, moderated or I'd get a warning. You've got a large bunch of newbies to flying looking for sound advice, but instead the guys in the know are the ones that don't get heard if it's believed that they not friendly enough or if they mention a brand. Or alternatively the ones that do get heard seemlingly offer advice on every single thing to the point that you wonder if really they do know as much about everything as they are leading you to believe! For example, an expert mechanic who is also seemingly the most experienced Flying Instructor too? It's unusual to be an expert in both fields. It's frustrating how powerful an online presence and the perceived power associated with it can be. Other nominees that have surfaced were qualified as LAME's with significant flight experience and in commercial operations, but because they don't have the perceived on-line presence, they are not successful. It's the IT & Generation Y world that we live in I guess.
  14. The problem with board members is that it's the members that vote them in and the RAAUS can't get rid of them easily. As a member when you choose to vote, all you have to go by is some fabricated rubbish that they may or may not choose to insert in the magazine as their election statement. It doesn't even have to be the truth it would seem, just something that will make you want to vote them in, in the hope that they might best represent you as a member. Unfortunately the nominee could be a potential murderer, criminal, nut case or just a plain liar and unless you know them personally you have no idea who you are voting for. Voter beware! I'd love to see board members at my field at least once a year but that's never happened. They are off doing their own thing and making money running their own aviation businesses most of the time it would seem. You shouldn't have to ask them, they should make an effort to visit clubs and schools and hear what the members have to say. Email and websites are not always the best mediums considering the age / demographic of RAAUS members.
  15. I wonder if that is the same board member that the RAAUS just spent many $$$ on (in legal expenses) to have ejected from the board to no avail? Maybe if there are no names mentioned here then there no legal issues and people might realise what really does go on behind the scenes in our organisation? I have no time for those that try to monopolise an industry and penalize others for doing what they love particularly when it's about lining their own pockets.
  16. It would take more than a "legal eagle" to work out what makes at least one of the board members "tick."
  17. As much as I would like to wish you luck, it's not the luck you will need, it's the ability to work with your potential counterpart without it doing your head in!
  18. Victor Charlie Charlie this is Mike Sierra Foxtrot are you there Dimitri? I remember it well!
  19. That Dave Francis acquired my old rego, VH-ZEE. I really liked that rego, I should have reserved it for my next aircraft. Oh well.
  20. Stuff driving there! We left Melbourne by air taking around 2.3 hours, versus the 7 hour drive, ouch! The trip home, 2.3 hours again with a slight tail wind. Up to 9,500ft at times searching for stronger winds but forced all over the joint due to varying cloud heights.
  21. As I understand it you are 100% correct despite some of the made up tripe that you may have read elsewhere on other sites!
  22. Highly commended Michael, sounds good I am looking forward to the tasty treats. Last year Dianne from Punkinhead airsports had Easter Eggs at her stand so now I have another place to visit for treat top-ups. It's great that businesses like yours at Natfly offer some hospitality, conversation and a comfortable chair rather than just peddle your their allegedly discounted merchandise or overpriced aircraft. I also admire those businesses like yours that have developed their own products to assist the Australian aviation scene with Research and Development into a local product rather than just importing crappy alternatives from overseas. See you there. NC

    Jabiru engines

It doesn't matter how well you look after a Jabiru engine, it will still do what jabiru engines do best and require a top end overhaul by 600 hours, particularly for the 6 cylinder models. It's the harsh reality and I can give you many examples ranging from 130 hours upwards where this has been the case.
  24. The Jabiru flipped over on landing. It was a flying school aircraft.
