  1. I have been to both Narromine and Temora. My preferance is Narromine with the clubhouse giving a direct view of the runway (air conditioned)not too spread out good catering. In my opinion the Temora option was good for those living in Temora no one else.It may be that with the reorganization at RAA they start listening to the members and bring our main event home. David
  2. I have been grounded since 20th March despite sending photos on the 1 st March. Only to be told we need a weight and balance report (this happened when I enquired about the progress the week before Natfly) Got one done sent it off. Talked to the new General Manager two weeks ago the application was now waiting to be signed off by the CASA rep.Since then nothing. No replies to my last two emails. Sixty days grounded and counting to re register an aircraft with almost 500 hours on it.I dont care who administers the system CASA Raa whatever I would like to go flying again sooner rather than later.
  3. Cant really sat on the forum the whole things are a waste of time and space. Yet another illconcieved political knee jerk reaction to pander to the Greenies without considering the long term implications. They are a blot on the landscape. just my opinion. David (the recently employed ) *(he who works gets the best toys)

  6. Seat weight limits apply to some aircraft just check it out. Dave
  7. Just a thought Ian why not quarantine the political threads so that in the fullness of time forumites will have access to what has been said and by who.As it is it looks a bit like cleaning up a crime scene. I do agree with the intention of the forums being non political. Dave
  8. There was the 737 pilot who could not land the aircraft (daddy bought her ticket)
  9. It does not surprise me but it is idiotic. They are doing this in tandem with the latest jingoistic marketing campain,Do they really think that the general fair paying passengers are that stupid ? I hope that irish boys tenure ends before the brand is totally destroyed (ps he is ok scraping by on a lazy 5 mill pa )
  10. I hope you get around it Darky,My girl suffers terribly from airsickness to a point where she no longer flies.I think part of it is being afraid of chucking so it brings it on. A shame as I love flying but the last time we both went it only took 10 mins before it happened. Please let me know if you crack it. Best wishes Dave
  11. Hi Bluey I dont do weightshift at present but I have heard that P&M are having major issues with sails failing at low hours. Not only that they are not really looking after their customers .I bought one of their early Typhoon hang gliders it had a flutter on the left hand side they ended up scrapping it and replacing it ( only because I was working for a Hang Gliding school who was their agent) Not saying they are all bad just check it out Dave
  12. I would ask around Jab owners and seriously research the engine durability. When at the airfield check out who is flying and who is tinkering its no fun flying with one eye on the temp gague all the time. Consider all the alternatives.Just looking in the latest mag its a buyers market at present some imported ac are now cheaper than the second hand offerings due to exchange rates . Research well check out resale values and enjoy your purchase. Dave
  13. Hi Paul They have to be treated right to get reliable performance.Use the same oil in the premix all the time and run them often (a long period of non operation can be damaging even if the hours are low ) If properly looked after the 503 has a good record. Regards Dave
  14. Would like to join you for a jam but dont think I can fit the drum kit in the back of the Savannah (Rossie might bring it down in the Nissan ) Watch this space Dave
  15. Trained as a Blacksmith in the mines in the UK Took up hang gliding .Got out of the mines and into the printing business Emigrated to Aus Went back on the tools (anyone want to buy a welding business) Bought a Savannah (love it) Looking at transition to retirement. Dave
  16. Hi Rod Is that your pride and joy looks good we will all see you coming good choice enjoy. We ought to round up the flock and do a trip sometime. Dave
  17. Hey Rick Dont need no instruction from you or anybody else.I just posted a note on what I have noticed as a common weld defect on stainless steel joints based on 40 years experience in the trade.
  18. Heat affected zone cracking usually occours when insufficient filler metal has been deposited in a fast hot weld especially on stainless steel. Dave
  19. I know of several people who didnt go as they thought all the camping was booked up. I think that Narromine is a better venue allways seemed to get a good turn out there. dave
  20. Have heard a few rumours that all the available camping spaces are booked and therefore people are not going. Is this so ? I plan to fly down while Ros prefers to drive and bring all the gear that we cant fit in the plane (big tent BBq food ctc) please advise Dave
  21. There is an easy fix guys Paul Crowfoot did it dont think he has looked back. Dave
  22. Hi John I had issues with my muffler the internal baffles came adrift and the welds cracked around the feed tubes. The previous owner had had it repaired but it still fell apart. Ater repairing it myself have put a couple of hundred hours on the plane all good. \ Dave
  23. Hi Scott I started out weightshift (hang gliders) and did a small amount on trikes before I went three axis found the enclosed cockpit far more civilised and the aircraft more affordable and capable. Never had an issue with so called control reversal ( just think the joystick is your body ie move your body forward to decrease the angle of attack ) Nail the basics and you are there. Dave
  24. We had to endure "rev fest" last year. They used the taxiway on the western side the main strip was in use but we could not access it. Our club objected to the event,as did the local Police. The event was poorly organised the spectators could not see the racing from the alotted area so they moved so they could(cant blame them as they had paid $40 entry plus $10 parking) on the other side of the main runway. Its not a safe situation to have thousands of spectators wandering around an active airfield. . Anyway many spectators were unhappy airfield users were unhappy Airport management and the organisers were very happy as a substancial sum of money was made. I suspect that palms were greased to get such a stupid event to happen.
