  1. Hi there yes I has a drilling plate for balance master to suit jab prop pattern . There not certified but work well there around $185 plus postage and take a few days to drill and post in my spare time . I only sell them for a hobbie . Cheers Daniel
  2. Hummm..well it's not really intermittent. On a test bench it fires up and immediately you can tap the case and it will give the sound. I have a great "old" techno who looks after our radios at Murray Bridge but this one has him stumped
  3. Best way to describe is an intermittent "crackle" that is more prevelent on ground run, less airborne. But it dies occur in flight. To me sounds similar to a capacitor discharge. That said, I removed the radio and tested with a different unit. No Probs. So cradle and externals ok. Next we found by using an external cradle we can get the same result. Have a nice radio guy at airfield who can replicate the problem in an external cradle. But that said we have checked board etc and cannot isolate the actual problem. I'm happy to pay someone who can fix but just get annoyed at the large costs charged by the commercial "certified" workshops with large overheads for simple fixes.
  4. I'm based in Adelaide. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good radio tech that can investigate and fix a problem with my A200 radio. Thanks guys Ian
  5. Hi Laurie. Which Icom are you referring to...the A210 model.?

  7. Thanks for the responses. Always a conundrum. Current radio is an older BendixKing panel unit. Has a compatibility problem with my Bose X headsets and also the hash just bursts in after the first transmission is received and then disappears 10 minutes later, never to return that day. Spent too much on it so seeking a replacement. The Icom would be a good "fit" but now had three sources who warned me away. Mainly the problems created with the ribbon cable and its attachment to the unit. Weak link in a good radio. I prefer the panel type vs the smaller units but seems its not a viable option. The Xcom sounds like a good unit at a reasonable price. I'd like to find a supplier who will do a take back if I buy and I still have the current issues.
  8. I'm in the market for a new radio for my Jabiru. I have spend a kings ransom on the existing unit and don't wish to spend any more. The specs look good but nothing like someones past experience. Cheers
  9. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what and where I can get reasonable liability insurance as an RAAus instructor. Seems like something that we as instructors should carry or have covered by the school with which we fly. Today's litigious society a lot to answer for.!!
  10. Hi Warwick found the supplier at last M Simonson | Home - Frontrunner, Prelude, Interlude, Noticeboard - very helpful. 2 options for future reference - Prelude and Interlude. Very similar product - no lines in it for easy wrapping. The Interlude is the dearer and basically it doesnt "fluff" as much as the less expensive Prelude. They'll send samples of your choices before sale. Both have a fire retardant rating as well. Mind you if your on fire with 65L of fuel behind you not really a problem at all.. Thanks for the help Ian
  11. When you say the other material - do you mean the one from Jacksons- they seem to be suggesting that its Frontrunner? Thanks for the feedback - all helps - Jab want $1300+ for their solution - seems expensive - plus the fitting. Cheers Ian
  12. Hi - think I resolved thesupply issue. Called Jacksons - very helpful but dont carry in stock any more - but are investigating. After a great deal of investigation I think I have found the new distributors/manufatures. Have emailed them and waiting on a response. - Frontrunner and Prelude - Prelude appears to be fire retardant. This would be the same gear as supplied by Jabirui - AAA Wholesale Fabrics | Home - Frontrunner, Prelude, Interlude, Noticeboard fingers crossed. Ian
  13. I have a great Jabiru LSA 55 which needs a new interior lining. The original was made by Nylex who have gone out of the business. Just wondering if anyone out there knows of a suitable replacement fabric and source. Its very similar to the fabric that is used on some office room dividers. Its "sticky' - velco style Cheers Ian

  15. Jabiru uc bolts On inspection it was 100% the bolt that gave way. On close inspection the bolt had been failing for some time as you can clearly see where it exhibited "fail rings" leaving insufficient bolt to hold. The nut was 100% intact. The bolts were of the older 5/16 diameter. They have been replaced with Jabiru supplied 3/8th as required. Other than spat damage and some gel coat on a wing tip the aircraft was another example of good a aircraft and of course great pilotage.
