Guys, I have had to have my Sensenich wooden prop refinished three times in the past two years, due to chips being thrown up into it or the latest case flying through a shower (see photos attached). It seems that these painted leading edge props are not designed for anything but light usage. Hence I am looking to change to a GT with metal leading edge, specifically the GT2-151VZR (shown in the photo attached). Does anyone have any experience running this prop on a Jabiru J160, or any other Jabiru powered aircraft? I am likely to go for one which is finer than the standard, and gives a static of 2800-2850. Reason being the J160 has short wings and doesn’t get off the ground quickly if you are at MAUW. Stuart UK J160

I've just fitted an MGL RV3 RPM instrument in my J160 to replace the VDO instrument that appears to be under reading. I attached the pulse input to one of the alternator wires as advised by the supplier. I get a good readout apart from when I switch the strobe light on (and to a lesser extent the fuel pump) which causes it to go crazy. Clearly both of these produce pulse interference but I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to eliminate this? Unfortunately I can't use the hall-effect sensor as it does not create a strong enough signal for the unit to detect it.

Thanks deadstick! I am in the UK otherwise I would take you up on that offer. ;-) Am glad to hear you are having a good run with your engine. Let's hope we have good lives out of ours. I've also heard they produce a bit more power than the early hydraulics. What aircraft do you have yours in? Did you see a difference in climb performance?

My Jab 2200 has had catastrophic failure at 360hrs, likely due to an accident prior to purchase. Unhappy pilot!

My threads been hijacked lol! Seems like there isn't much experience of the latest roller cam iteration of the 2200 within this forum. I have ordered the Jab engine however, and hopefully will have it fitted this week. Am sincerely hoping they have sorted everything out with this latest engine.

Thanks guys. I've been flying with the Jabiru 2200 for several years now so have quite a bit of experience with them. However my engines have been early hydraulics. I placed an order for a new 2200 so am hoping that they've ironed out the common issues. Fingers crossed!! But if anyone knows anyone with the latest engine, let me know.

Hi All. The 2200 in my J160 has just had to be written off due to a sequence of failures which appear to relate to an accident prior to me taking ownership. I have been considering a few engine options, but it looks as though the simplest and most cost effective solution is to go with a replacement Jabiru of the latest specification. Although numbers and hours are still low with the latest iteration involving roller cam lifters, I would be very interested to hear of anyone who has had experience with the new model, and/or they have heard of any failures occurring. Has Jabiru ironed out the previous issues, many of which were prevalent in the early hydraulic versions (such as mine)? Many thanks, Stuart
