  1. Flying from WA it might have started running on air. glad the chap is ok Confirmed from PIC - suffered from fuel starvation due to deviation from planned track from not perfect weather conditions.
  2. Horrifying footage shows fatal plane crash at Russian university prom air show (VIDEO) A good example of an unintentional spin shown in this footage link above with chilling results - Bristell at Russian Airshow
  3. Latest info heard is that this Jab was in the experimental category and had a highly modified Camit engine with fuel injection and ran out of fuel.
  4. News is this aircraft has a Camit engine not a Jab engine. VH Experimental category.
  5. Hi Phil - I read your post above with interest about a Jab engine being stolen from a UK airfield. I saw this ad on craiglist just the other day for a new 3300 engine and thought it was a bit weird. After just reading your post I thought maybe it could be the stolen engine you mentioned in your post. I have sent you the link. Maybe it is worth having a look in to to see if they can be caught. Just seems a bit too coincidental and seems to add up. http://london.craigslist.co.uk/ptd/5372186472.html
  6. It would be interesting to know if a fuel tester was found in the wreckage seen as it was sitting outside for quite a while prior to this flight. Possibly water in the fuel? The battery would also be a concern if it was no good and it was jump started for the flight. The engine would not have been able to be re-started if it had a gurgle during flight due to the water in the fuel.
  7. I've noticed this aircraft from time to time recently in passing. It looked to me like it hadn't been flown for quite a while. Just sits there with cobwebs on it and I don't think it was even tied down. I wonder if they drained any old fuel sitting in it before they took off.
  8. Interesting comments from Motzartmerv - and yet here we are with CASA potentially grounding an Australian brand of aircraft due to safety/reliability concerns and saying they have to" protect" the public on the ground and student pilots from the possibility of having to do forced landings etc. It seems that imports such as these come under no scrutiny from CASA in spite of the "safety" concerns expressed and potential for an incident to occur. Go figure.
