Aus Roads Standards at Austroads - Assessing Fitness to Drive 2016 (as amended up to August 2017)What is not indicated is if you can get a Basic Class 2 if you only qualify for a conditional private or commercial MV licence eg Diabetes with Insulin control.

Just curious, (sorry I have no meaningful input here) What do the weights mean? In particular MTW

MTW: 203 kgs?

MTOW: 400 KGs (I know this is maximum takeoff weight)

I suspect the 750 number was picked to perhaps deliberately exclude the old GA cessna's, pipers etc because that opens up the whole "who will maintain these things" can of worms..

I'm with you, just want 750 to be able to carry Full tanks and 2 PoB who are not pint sized people. Hey maybe even strengthen the aircraft a bit for safety sake, why not. Not interested in CTA or 1500KG

CTA and MTOW

RAAus has received advice from CASA that progress towards CTA and MTOW will be managed in line with legislative reform in 2018. Whereas RAAus was hoping to progress CTA and MTOW prior to Part 149 being introduced, CASA has advised that this is not possible. We will keep members informed as we continue to work on these proposals.

Probably not, but anything happens to the tank, whether its something like a fence post or branch puncturing the tank or whatever I' rather it was as far away from me as possible. It's probably more of a psychological/personal preference thing, being trapped covered in fuel - worst nightmare stuff for me. Wing tanks are no guarantee it won't happen but makes me warm and fuzzy(er) than tank over my lap. My 2 cents

You're quite welcome to mention what you might like to see in a High Wing, cheap and cup holders are already in place ...

Could be expensive... Sounds like it should rather be done in an engine shop rather than your run of the mill maintenance workshop?

Agreed, don't care much about CTA access, bring on the weight increase to 750kg/ 760 kg. If you want the older GA fleet of 150's tomahawks etc leave them 24 (?) registered and maintained by authorised Maintainer, wether that's AME or L2 or whatever (another can of worms there...). Extra weight allows for newer stronger designs too, not necessarily more fuel & bigger pilots

If it has and audio/ microphone (in) jack you can just get one of those cheap lapel microphones. I stick it to the inside of the headset, they are small enough not to be noticed. That way you get radio and some engine noise too, I personally can't stand flying videos with music, but that's just me ;)

I've just watched and thoroughly enjoyed the series on Netflix.

I was also shocked to see the owner Maurice Hammond has since had a crash in one of the Mustangs, not sure if it was the same one in the show. He survived and is recovering at home but sadly the passenger was killed. It appears he also owns the Harvard and the Stearman in the series, Hardwick Warbirds. Hopefully they can rebuild the mustang after they get it back. Hope he makes a full recovery.

Congrats on getting your license. I doubt the "25 hours" quoted would include driving, studying, exams etc. That would be for hours logged in the aircraft.

Lucky the eagle was dead/stunned, could've been a bit like a frog in a blender in that cockpit if it was still alive and very pissed off..

When I did my training at YWKM we got a lot of their Grobs coming in for navs etc, tense moments as you had no idea where they were, impossible to understand most of the time over the radio with English not being their first language. Just kept a good lookout and let them know exactly where I was..

I enjoyed this video of building the Sling 4 in 4 days... Many hands make light work, helps that it's the factory team :)
