  1. UPS PILOTS Just in case you need a laugh: Remember it takes a college degree to fly a plane, but only a high school diploma to fix one. Reassurance for those of us who fly routinely in our jobs. After every flight, UPS pilots fill out a form, called a "Gripe Sheet," which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by UPS pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by Maintenance Engineers. By the way, UPS is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an accident. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement. S: Almost replaced left inside main tire. P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough. S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft. P: Something loose in cockpit S: Something tightened in cockpit P: Dead bugs on windshield. S: Live bugs on back-order. P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground. P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear. S: Evidence removed. P: DME volume unbelievably loud. S: DME volume set to more believable level. P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick. S: That's what friction locks are for. P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode. S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode. P: Suspected crack in windshield. S: Suspect you're right. P: Number 3 engine missing. S: Engine found on right wing after brief search. P: Aircraft handles funny. S: Aircraft warned to: straighten up, fly right, and be serious. P: Target radar hums. S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics. P: Mouse in cockpit. S: Cat installed. And the best one for last.................. P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer. S: Took hammer away from midget.
  2. Thanks Thanks Fellas, Apprieciate your 2 bobs worth Phil, Blueline and Rom. The J120 sounds good but i'm 6"2 and take up a bit of room. I'm a stock agent in the NT and am looking for something that I can do a bit of crosscountry in with a passenger and a little bit of gear. Speed is not as important as range. I've had a Drifter in the past and it was a great machine for station work but not much good for traveling. Being a bit isolated I don't know much about other types that might suit what I'm looking for so any suggestions are greatefully recieved. Cheers Rick
  3. Hi GUYS, Can anyone please tell me the difference between a J160 ans LSA? I am looking to buy a something with a bit of range and a cruise of about 100knts. Cheers Rick
  4. Hi Guys, I am thinking about buying a Jabiru or similer. I am very interested in the new j120 but have no experience and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what to look for. The only problem that I see with the J120 is the lack of range. I live in the NT and travel a lot for work as a Stock Agent. I don't need anything fancy just reliable and proven. I would like something that does around 100 kts that is reasonably easy to maintain that can carry a bit of gear (swag and gear bag) and can handle bush strips. A low hour secondhand plane would be ok. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Rick
  5. G'Day All, This is my first time on the and site it looks great. I don't currently have a plane but have had a Rally sport and Drifter in the past. I have flown Drifters mainly on cattle stations and they are fantastic for the job. Because most of my flying has been in isolated areas I have not been a member of a club. I currently do a lot of travelling in my work as a stock agent and am thinking about buying something like a Jabaru. I would appreciate any advice onwhat to look out for. Rick
