    East Sale military airspace

G'day dsam, I'm flying through it tomorrow and was looking at it on the chart, which shows D353 1500/SFC and R358A as SFC/FL45 ... It makes sense to me from what I can see. If you split the zone how would you manage the air space over the top of D353 >1500' would that be R358F or G? Why not just leave it as R358A? Unless I'm missing something, but I feel ok with the way this is presented? Cheers Vev

    Tyabb Airshow - 11 March

No Vampire in the display this year but we will have 2 of them on ground display. One being the rare single seater interceptor and the other the twin.

  7. Just a reminder that the Tyabb Airshow "War & Peace" is on Sunday 11th March. We have a huge line up of vintage, classic, warbird and current day ADF aircraft. We even have a few, out of this world, flying surprises organised that you won't see anywhere else. Just some of the aircraft: Mustangs Boomerang Hudson Spitfire Seahawks Tojan T28's Pitts Yak and Changs Harvard Southern Knights Kittyhawk P40 Roulette display Hurricane Tiger Moths Sopwith Pup & Snipe This is just some of the line up with many more rare and exciting flying displays. Michael Smith will be there with Southern Sun, his world record breaking solo global circumnavigating flying boat. He will be able to personally tell you about his adventure. Several RAA and GA aircraft manufactures will also be displaying their latest and greatest toys. We will fly a pair of Australian built P51 Mustangs, one of which is last surviving one built and may be the first and last time you get to see it as it is now on the market and likely to be sold overseas. Take a look at the attached video. We have hundreds of unique cars, bikes and military vehicles including WW1 & 2 and Vietnam war period camps. Have a fly of our latest simulator and see how you go in IFR conditions or an emergency landing after an engine failure or land it into your favourite airport. This is a charity event where the bulk of the proceeds go back to the community. All of the pilots, owners and support staff are volunteers and have donated their time and aircraft to support the charities. This years our main beneficiaries are Riding for the Disable and the CFA which are both worthy organisations. Buy a ticket on line a fast track your entry and avoid the lines. 2018 Tyabb Air Show-Home We hope to see you all there. Jack Vevers President - Peninsula Aero Club Home - Peninsula Aero Club

    Guess the plane

And I though this one was going to take at least half a day! Well done Graeme.

    What's this aircraft? Cheers Vev

    Guess the plane

Hi Nev, Is that because of all of the engine weigh aft or the small rudder? Good view out of the cockpit! Cheers Vev

    Guess the plane

Hi Nev, I beleive there only 4 still flying in the world and this is one of them. The earlier 1928 models had the Curtiss OX5 engines but were considered under powered for the airframe, the 1929 had the Wright Whirlwind J-5-6 engine with 165hp. It feels like a time machine flying her around, no radio, only charts and a compass, can't see forward because of a huge pot in the middle of the screen which soon gets covered in grease from the rocker gear. Cheers Vev

    Guess the plane

Its the real deal, it was restored in 1979 and won the 1980 Silver Wings at Oshkosh and then won it again a few years later. Vev

    Guess the plane

Hi Ben, I think you’re right and it does have boat tail, with a wooden polished carvel top. When I flew in (it’s my Curtiss) this fellow turned up in this beautiful little car and we both took a photo. Cheers Vev

    Bingo Mick, well done. It’s a 1929 Curtiss Robin with a J 5 6 engine. I can give a small hint on the car ... it’s French.
