Photos on dz.com show the incident (they were hugup on exit and fell from low level while trying to clear the problem) with a description from those who witnessed it. APF do comprehensive reports.

Benalla might be OK, they will have just run the World Gliding Comps, but I would check out Mt Beauty. Mark Bland has a Self Launcher there and the scenery trumps Benalla. Of course, you could also take a winch launch there too. Much more fun than aerotow.
