The heater is a propriety heater used on motorbike carby's such as Yamaha. It's about the size of 5\16 - 1inch bolt. I assume it filled with carbon.

I have fitted a 12v carby heater to my J230. A push button brings in a latching relay & preheats the throat. As soon as the starter is engaged the relay drops out. Good for cold starts.

Be careful of LED lamps some of the 12v LED's emit a lot of RFI from the circuitry & interfere with the radio. I tried several types until I found a suitable unit .

Not exactly what you are after, but I used a garage door opener with a counterweight. The cover has to be in one piece to work. hope it gives you an idea.

After three years, the light @ the end of the tunnel is in sight. Doing the final assembly of our J230. Could be in the air in three months.
