  1. Get every copper cleco you own ready, anywhere up to one every fourth hole along the outer angles.
  2. These need longer rivets than supplied in the kit too, to do the job properly. The standard supplied rivets barely come through the plastic to engage the aluminium. Once sheeted they are very difficult(read next to impossible) to drill out to replace with longer rivets. So that "these"

  4. Onya Tomo. Guess your wife did a bit too, good on her too. Are you going to be doing aerobatics in the family wagon? If not then the answer to how old would be different. Just like when to let them jump on a trampoline. Mine all three jumped on the trampoline once they could walk, guess that is why they are like they are now. I bet you could ask any number of do gooders for an answer to the how old question and you would get lots of answers between 10 and 30 to protect your baby from your evil obsession.
  5. This is experimental aviation, what is the worst that could happen? Oh yes you could scorch a big patch on your window. Take it easy.
  6. Not sure if I like the corkscrew or the pepper mill attachment best!
  7. Both those things are options within the same brand from my experience. Just add more $$$.
  8. They are much easier to buy since Frost started making them in China. Much harder to get a sharp one with a lasting edge.
  9. When you have the frames built just check the alignment of the hinge extrusions. I visited one guy in North Queensland just after he sheeted the flaperons and discovered one of the frames had had the hinges put on the wrong way round and the holes were on the back face instead of the side face. Time to unsheet it and drill them out. Best time is before you sheet it.
  10. Something doesn't add up here. The factory planes come out with the roof panel partially painted, and I think Dennis painted some of his roof panel too. I am not aware of cracking when this is done.
  11. If you read the fitting instructions on the protective film of the lexan, they are very particular about clearances around fittings. I fitted mine as supplied and read the writing on the film after they were built. I thought back to the laser cut holes and wonder weather it would be a good idea to run a drill through each hole prior to assembly to de-burr them out to the specified clearance next time I build one. some of them are a bit ragged as supplied and that could lead to tight spots as the rivets are pulled up.
  12. I used need-it on my magna before last when a spot weld pulled out causing the tank to leak, sold it about 8 years later with the tried and tested patch still installed.
  13. Some use 4psi air pressure in the drum and no pump. You can mount a 10um filter directly on a McNaught rotary pump if you want to get away from the static in a Mr Funnel.
  14. Middle daughters graduation is over at Armidale Saturday morning, should be back mid afternoon. Take the road to Toowoomba to Goondiwindi through Millmerran is probably the best road then get on the Newell Highway. It is a bit out of your to come round by my place by road. Like going to Reg's place from here 4 1/2 mins flying, 25-30 mins drive. Only one way to go.
  15. Yes, and your track takes you where?
  16. If we all waited until our families all understand, most of us would never have got to start training, let alone finishing.
  17. Notice they left the lugs on the nose leg for the bungee so you will be able to downgrade if the spring turns out to be a mistake.
  18. That was the one. That is why mine is all white. I did the Coke can demo at Old Station, last time I talked to him.
  19. I would like to say I got up early again to work on my plane, but alas, just bloody old cows pushing and shoving, busted their trough at dark and wasted all their tank water so we were up and at em, to fix it before the sun came up and the solar pump kicked in.
  20. Gundy built his with dark purple leading edge and had the same trouble, don't know that the sheets ever cracked but I did upset him while we were talking about it one day by crinkling a coke can until it fell in half.
  21. You could also be a launch customer for Virgin Galactic II, wonder which would cause you the most grief. That's right Galactic I has already ironed out the problems.
  22. I think the barbs on the standard tap are a bit young too, looks like it asks a fair bit of the hose clamps to keep it sealed. Would be much better if the supplied barbs were the same size as the supplied hose for that one.
  23. That tap is the main fuel shutoff that is installed between your knees on the floor. It cuts all fuel forward of the firewall if you have an engine fire. The taps that turn the outer tanks off are not standard, such as these. http://www.aerokits.net.au/prod04.htm or the photo Mark posted.
  24. The return goes into the inner tank only, so leave the outer tank turned off until some fuel has been burned off, otherwise you will be dumping fuel overboard out of the fuel breather tube through the wing. At least you will be able to see the trail if you use the breather tubes. If you use one of the modified breather styles, the dumped fuel will be blowing in the wind above the wing and you will see nothing.
  25. Are your manifolds like this? With the little red tap. If so they are optional additions to the kit made here in Australia. http://www.aerokits.net.au/prod04.htm. better picture here.
