  1. Shouldn't the last version of firmware still be available to re-flash rather than just say D2 is in the market and D3 is soon to be released. The throw away tech mentality is out of control. I will replace my Samsung android phone after the 5G models are released, not before, but several crook firmware upgrades have tried to take it out ahead of schedule. Funny how their first response is always, "It is more than two years old, time you had a new one!".
  2. Do the chips in modern electronics have a count down timer set to render the hardware useless after a pre-defined life span. Be good for business and dead simple to add into the firmware, and who would ever know.
  3. Reg has had no plane since he sold her and is no longer the ICP distributor. If I was any sort of neighbour I would get on and finish my S so he could do a few hours before he forgets how to do it!
  4. I didn't reinforce mine, remember if you make anything heavy enough it won't get off the ground. The engineers at ICP don't believe you need them. Reg designed his rudder extension after a conversation we had on the phone one night, about three days later I went over to start building and the parts were on the bench, but he did what seemed necessary, he is not an engineer. The only example is the old maroon Savannah demonstrator and it has a new home down at Dubbo, I don't know of any photos of the angle reinforcements.
  5. Memories of Dennis's Savannah built in a third floor apartment in Sweden come to mind. Slinging it over the balcony will make this driveway look like a stroll in the park.
  6. The young do tend to aspire to fly further than they can while holding the joystick, so a passport is usually a higher priority than a pilots licence. Two of my three kids have been overseas twice already though neither my wife or I have ever held a passport. The world is a lot smaller for them so a plane that has 3 or 4 hours range doesn't get them there.
  7. Has the hard disk actually died, or has it just ceased to boot up. If the later install it as a secondary disc in another computer and get into it. I have had success with Ccleaners cousin Recuvva getting back my wifes photos from a disk that scrambled it's file allocation system too.
  8. Worried when I read the thread title, thought you had done the tricycle version of a ground loop! That could have been a bit hard on your nose leg.
  9. On the video there was one motorist pulling out to overtake who could have changed the outcome.
  10. My wife saw your post and suggested she wasn't lucky, just obviously competent. You didn't read Tillmanr above.

So how is your prototype coming along?
  13. Loctite needs heat to a bit over 300 degrees C to make the bond release. You can get it there with a heat gun if you don't have a butane torch.
  14. On the fifth page of small print you will no doubt read that they were perfectly with in their rights!
  15. Don't listen to his harsh words Hank! I have only got about three hours in on mine in the last couple of years, after my brisk start. But we will get there, it isn't a race.
  16. If the ring is built as strong as the cap, how do you get the ring through the hole into the tank? does it have to be made in two pieces?
  17. Be aware that a 70 inch prop installed in an Airmaster hub will have a larger diameter than it had in, say, your existing Bolly hub.
  18. An AP332 hub takes 60mm blades, like Bolly, and are rated upto 40Hp per blade, from memory. I was keen on Sensenich blades but ended up with Whirlwind Razor blades, both of which have a 70mm boss, hence the upgrade, but also came with a small weight penalty.
