  1. Hi Guys, I have just received from Australia some Vortex generators (Stolspeed) that I intend to fit to the wing of my Tecnam Bravo. My mate at the strip has a Tecnam P92 and has recently fitted same and swears by them. My main reason for fitting is because we have many short fields around here 400mtrs or less, I figure that reducing approach speed even if only by a little has to be a good idea. What do you think. Have any of you any experience with these. Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers from sunny although skint Spain. Nigel.
  2. Thanks guys, particularly Maj, I thought it may be air in the system, as before I drained the tanks all was OK. The weather here in Andalusia at the moment is VERY HOT, if we get a slightly cooler day I am hoping next week to get up to the airfield and check things out. I will let you know how I get on. Again thanks for all the post's. Regards, Nigel.
  3. Can anyone help? I decided to drain down the tanks on my Tecnam Bravo with Rotax 912 to calibrate the fuel gauges. On finishing this work the fuel pressure gauge now flickers, it does more or less flicker between the correct pressure. So thinking I must have dislodged some crud some where in the system I cleaned the fuel filter in the gascolator and also in the electric pump, there was a little residue but nothing out of the norm. I then unscrewed the fuel return pipe to the tank and blew this through with air and before refitting ran the electric fuel pump to flush from the other end, fuel came through so I presume all is well here. Having done all this the gauge still flickers, has anyone any experience with this. Thanks in advance guys Nigel.

  5. Flying dog!!!! (Yorkshire Terrier) Hi Maj, You can check out all of our flying films on YouTube, Search: nigelandpaulamarsha. I think we could do with some ear protectors for the dog or a real small set of headphones, it was her first flight and I don't think she is in a hurry to go up again. Cheers from sunny Andalusia, Nigel.
  6. Thanks for all advise, it's much apreciated. As to the rpm, it certainly reaches 5.800rpm if anything a little over. I will double check everything again this weekend, weather permitting and report back. Again thanks and by for now, Nigel.
  7. Hi Guy's, Can any of you help me with this problem. I have been advised to change the propeller on my Tecnam P2004 Bravo (100hp) as many of the air strips here are quite short, and with the heat altitude etc may be difficult to take off from, plus the Bravo is not exactly light. At present I have the standard GT Tonini prop with adjustable pitch married to an Autoprop 2002 electric pitch control system. The advise I have received is to change to a Kaspar two or preferably three blade hydraulically adjustable propeller. Personaly all I want is to be able to get into and more importantly out of these shorter air strips here in Spain with security (some are only 400meters). If my cruising speed is reduced I am not so worried as I am not looking to be in a rush anywhere. I only have 40 hours so am still very very green, and the air strip I fly from here at Trebujena near Jerez is 1.200meters long and tarmac, so building my hours here with the set up I have at present will be fine. However the advise I have received is that the change of propeller will transform the performance of the Bravo, so any advise that you all could give me would be much apreciated as to change will not be cheap, but I will if the change is going to be worth the expense. Cheers, Nigel. PS here is a video clip of my plane and me with my instructor Alejandro.
  8. Thanks guy's, I am going to re-locate the jack sockets in the center consul between the seats. Replacing the entire length with shielded cable. Cheers, Nigel.
  9. My headset plug in points are presently located at the bottom of the instrument panel in a central position. The cables are in the way and it looks untidy. My question is I would like to extend the cables and move the plug in points to a central position just behind the seats, this will mean extending the cables by aproximatly two meters. However I have been told that extending the cables can cause interference problems is this true? Also if this is possible with no problems what is the best way of joining the new piece of extension cable to minimize problems? Any help as always much apreciated. Cheers, Nigel.
  10. Hi Geoff, Yes I will be able to squeeze in the Avmap, did you use a special mount for your's? I want to fit it in as flush as possible with the dashboard. Any advice will be much apreciated. Cheers, Nigel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tctsU0_Kq9k"
  11. Hi Geoff, We will be going down to the plane on Saturday and staying over the weekend, so I will be seeing then if I can squeeeeeezzz an Avmap GPS in. I will let you know what occurs. Take care, Nigel.

    Tecnam Bravo

My wife and I took delivery of our Bravo on Friday last, was worth the wait. Take a look on links below. Nigel.
  13. I'll get my tape measure out and check on the available space. Many thanks, Nigel.
  14. Thanks for the quick reply geoff, I'll have to get saving. Take a look at my Bravo, and my wife paula on this link. The plane came with a Bendix GPS which is not very user friendly. Cheers Nigel.
  15. Anyone got any views on this GPS, I must admit to liking the look of the larger screen and the features seem good, but would welcome any thoughts/opinions as it is quite an investment. The new Garmin 695 looks great but is 800euro more.
  16. LightSpeed problem is the intercom. This the reply that I have received from lightspeed, hopefully I will be able to resolve my problem with a different intercom. Hello Nigel, I apologize for the delay in responding……but I have found that your Zulu headsets are functioning as designed. One issue I’ve uncovered is the ICOM IC200A transceiver is designed to be used with headsets equipped with low impedance microphones….and Zulu has a high impedance mic. I believe this mismatch is what prevented both headsets from transmitting and receiving audio. I’ve discussed this with ICOM technical support who said the IC200A technology is about 20 years old, has been discontinued and provides very basic intercom capability at best. Their suggestion is to get an alternate new intercom which can be wired in tandem to the IC200A and provide the impedance matching capability you need while still allowing the transceiver to be functional for your radio needs. Here’s a link for their technical support: http://www.icomamerica.com/en/support/default.aspx (this is for ICOM USA but hopefully they’ll be able to provide some insight into your situation) The Blue Tooth issue has been addressed by updating the wireless module in the headsets which I am confident will now work with your Nokia phone. Thank you, Joe Mackowiak

  18. Hi Tim, My radio is an icom's IC-A200 with a Aeroplans Blaus intercom 10/ radio interface. I have sent both headsets back to Lightspeed, and am awaiting an answer to the problem, they should have received them by now but with the holiday's I will just have to be patient with news!!!!!! Regards, Nigel.
  19. Thanks for that it's nice to know it's the headsets that are at fault. I'll post the news when I get any from Lightspeed. Nigel.
  20. After lots of talks with the manufacturer, they have agreed to take them back and sort things out for me. They tried to say that they may not be compatible with my Icom radio set up, but I have found out that this is not to the case, according to the radio suppliers. I'll wait and see what happens, at the price of these thing's I was not expecting so much trouble. Nigel
  21. I have been recomended one of these battery charger optimiser's for my motorcycle, I also now think it may be a good idea for my Tecnam Battery, does anyone have any experiance of such a device on light sport aircraft. The battery size of my Honda Goldwing is more or less the same as my Tecnam Bravo. I just wondered if there where any possible problems that I cannot see, as I am new to all this aviation stuff. You can read all the blurb on this link. OptiMate Chargers from TheUltimateFinish.co.uk Any advise would be much appreciated. Regards, Nigel.

  23. I was wondering if anyone can help, I have recently bought two pair's of Lightspeed Zulu Headset's, yesterday I tried them in my instructors Tecnam P96 Golf and they did not work, the noise cancelling function was fine and I have connected my I-Pod and that worked very well. I had both sets plugged in as my instructor was keen to try them out as he is also considering buying a pair. We could hear a crackle when we plugged in and out the connection but nothing more at all. On the connections it says LSA, and the plugs look the same as my instructors cooking sets which work OK. Can anyone give me advise, or is there something really obvious that I am missing out on, as I am new to all of this. It seems to me unlikely that both sets of a good quality mark like these are, would be faulty. I can obviously contact the manufacturers but just wondered firstly if any of you out there can help a new kid on the block. I am still awaiting delivery of my Bravo which should be at the end of the month now, so I need to get this sorted one way or another before then. Cheers, Nigel.
