  1. I'm about to start my flying journey (again) and thinking of gaining an rpc. Is gaining an rpc then transferring to rpl still considered the most economical route? I would really love to fly in controlled airspace one day. I'm in Sydney so I have the choice the more costly RPL option at Bankstown or Camden and training immediately in controlled airspace and atc procedures. However, for $100 cheaper per hour i can choose rpc journey outside of Sydney. Just wondering if rpc may be cheaper initially but maybe not so much if I transfer to rpl at a later date and then have to spend more hours learning all the procedures at a controlled aerodrome?
  2. I heard it as well as I live in Pyrmont. Could it be someone building up instrument hours even at that strange time?
  3. Hi, Just wondering if this school is still operating? I sent an email a couple of days ago and tried to call Dave but phone doesn't answer. If it's still in business, does anyone know if it's open for training on Mondays? Thanks, Pat
  4. Many thanks for your reply Nightmare. Yep, i'll speak to my doctors if need be and get them to supply the necessary documentation. My doctors have never expressed any concerns over my driving and i've always held a full drivers license. Thinking of giving Dave's Flying School a try when it comes time to training. Cheers.
  5. Hi everyone, Whilst undergoing Drone licensing recently, it made me realise how much i miss the real thing. Over the years, i've twice started training for my PPL. Like a lot of people here, life got in the way the first time around. The second time saw CASA giving me a hard time over getting my Class 2 medical due to depression and sleep apnea. Both are being treated successfully now but i thought i may go down the recreational path this time as it seems to be cheaper plus the medical requirements seem to be easier. Just curious if anyone else has had issues with the recreational medical. It seems to me that it's similar to having a drivers licence with no restrictions, as is the case with me? Also wondering how much training is these days? Thanks,
