  1. Mmmmm, I hadnt thought of that, Yenn. True that the organisers have to arange it so that the attendees have good access to everything.I didnt go to the Narromine one last year but did go one a couple of years ago there, which wasnt too bad but the Temora one quite a few years ago was probably the best for ease of walking around with plenty to see. I think Carol Richards was one of the organisers back then. Didnt hear too many complaints after that one.

Hopefully there will be enough to see at this one ....

Carol was the organiser of the exceptionally successful ones, but she was knifed in the back and RAA decided that they could "do it better". We all know how that turned out. Politics and empire building are not conducive to having a successful organisation that actually allows the members to do what the organisation originally set out to do. Dont tell me this is "progress" and "the way of the world. Rubbish. Let good people do what they are good at and things work well, redesign the elephant by committee and political empire builders with rules and egos and ,you have the current RAA set up. Carol should have been lionised, instead she was shut down and bypassed. There was a woman who had members interests at heart and was prepared to go the extra mile for them. She got very little out of it, not even the genuine thanks of the management of the organisation.
  2. I see RAA have just announced an increase in membership and rego fees. They say there was in increase in membership of 8%. Time for some competition?

I agree but dont hold your breath for ELAAA to tell you anything. Good to see their holding courses but would have been nice to know.. How many increases in membership and rego fees from RAA is that in the last 3 years?
  3. ELAAA, I thought, was meant to be the answer to those wanting a better deal. They seem to be going nowhere at present. I have heard nothing from them even though I registered my interest many months ago. If they were serious, I think they would at least have kept those trying to fly their flag up to date. I thought they were a real non bulldust alternative to RAA etc but it appears I was being hopeful.

  4. FT isn't the RAA chairman. No offence to FT but there would be a tad more whingeing if he was I think. He mentioned at the start that it was a copy paste from the latest sport pilot mag

    no he doesn't.
  5. Is Toowoomba airport one of the government airports that was given to the local authority, to be used for aviation purposes? If so it is time for the feds to make sure it is not gobbled up by greedy developers.

seen it constantly. Goulburn is a classic case. Only one airport in the area and gifted to council from the feds (airport was originally gifted as an airport for a small sum by a local family many years ago.). Council sold to a developer with conditions. Local GA and Ultralight flying, and hanger owners, are taking a hit with hanger owners in a constant stated of war with the new owner over excessive fees and charges by him. as well as runway restrictions when the owner feels like it. Not a pleasant place to fly from any more and time has seen pilots and aircraft slowly disappearing from the area. Local councils can only see the money, people don't matter any more.

  6. It is all very well criticising the "legality " of the vote, but until members get interested enough to actually vote then any complaints, moans etc about the \vote, the performance of canberra or rules etc, are unfounded as you are governed by those that elected them. (could actually be bothered to vote.

  7. It's too late for that Turbs. That claim has already been published here (ref: post 284).

That post does not equate to vote stacking and without concrete proof I would be a little careful in accusing people of that. Severe lack of interest ion the members part was the reason for the vote as it was, not unsubstantiated rumours of vote stacking etc. How about proving statements instead of stirring the pot with unsubstantiated quotes and statements.

  8. I believe mineral is recommended because of the long term coating of components when the engine is idle for long periods. Synthetics are good but, I believe, not for long term idle engines and components...just my understanding.

  9. Let's not get sidetracked; the Federal Government has already said when it expects to get back to surplus, and as I understand it, the wish to get back to surplus is bi-partisan.

Yep, and santa claus comes at christmas,...surplus... government.. (bi partisan wishes are fine but sounds like air fairy spin to me. Historically, rare occurrence). Hopeful but not holding my breath.
