I use AvPlan, an Aussie company. No problems there and good support.

is Moorabbin "owned" by Goodman or do they hold the 99 year lease from the Federal Government like many other secondary airports and if so local planning does not apply as the land is under federal planning laws although I may be wrong here.

Had a 172 for 20 yrs then maintenance costs rose and rose then cids. Id had enough. Nice to get around in but maintenance cost creep was the killer. Also didnt use the full payload capability often. I went for an raa aircraft with much the same performance as fhe 172, cruse speed , approach and flair and suitable comfort for two plus 5hrs fuel and 20kg baggage. I found the lsa handled like a mixmaster in turbulance but soon learnt not to fight it and enjoy? the ride. Lsa will never be as comfortable as an aircraft twice its weight but can do long cross country and fun flying at half the cost. Also doing your own maintenance, if capable, ups your skill and respect for the aircraft and lowers the cost substantially.

AS a 24 rego you will need approval from the manufacturer and a LOA or go experimental.

So what do people do these days when making a flight plan?
Mewp replied to flying dog's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
I use AvPlan and for long trips i print the charts off the screen using a colour laser printer, usually each leg has a paper copy. The app allows all flight plan data to be printed as well. -

Same goes for Avplan. -
I just identify as a 25yo (you can now in our PC world) and to question me would be discrimination

Just another American company given a free pass into our airspace just as REX are gearing up for regional to capital jet routes. Rex has been servicing the regional areas and doing a good job.

I use avplan on an apple mini. It occasionally overheats and shuts down for a few minutes. I have a thigh mount for it which keeps it below the panel and out of direct sunlight. I also have the aera GPS in the panel as a fall back when the pad looses interest. The great thing about avplan is it gives instant access to everything you will need and as a backup i can print the route maps directly from the pad if needed.

Future Plans for Melbourne - Plan Melbourne 2017-2050

What is a planner anyway. Someone who change their mind every 3 - 5 years. We already have a second international airport in Avalon situated between our two biggest cities in vic. Some planner didn't think we needed it and sold it on. The eastern area can easily be serviced by commuter shuttle from Traralgon. -
No recreational flying or flight training Travel | Coronavirus Victoria https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/travel-restrictions See very end of page. Makes it very clear

I'm vaccinated so don't really care about those who don't wish to be. The virus will not be controlled by vaccination but vaccination protects those of us who are vaccinated from falling gravely ill, (in most cases). So if I come in contact with the virus, either from a vaccinated or non vaccinated carrier I have the best chance of survival. When the majority are protected we will see the economy very slowly open up again and good luck to those who refuse to have the jab. That said, I feel for those who, for medical reasons, cannot be vaccinated.

not so the Gripen, beautiful aircraft and well suited to Australias needs.

The problem with home visits is we don't check-in so contact tracing then relies on honesty and memory. Give each household a code and even then people would not use it just like I see at shops when several people are checking in at the same time.

Dan Gryder from probable cause in Cessna 150 crash.

Had a 172 with flap extension failure. Was the earth lead from the flap motor to the wing skin. Dissimilar metal corrosion. -
Thats the real difference between Pifzer and AstraZeneca, Pifzer costs around $30 per dose where as Astrazeneca is around $4 per dose. Astrazeneca announced they would not profit from sales during the pandemic.

On 28 July 2021 Lismore council have an approved grant of $300,000 from round 2 of the Federal Regional Airports Program for the Construction of a dedicated run-up bay to improve safety. Lot of money for a run up bay. I think we as general tax payers have subsidized Lismore quite generously.

A lot of regional council strips were once federal government strips. The Feds passed the airports to councils with a large cash incentive which was, I am led to believe, to be invested and the returns used to help fund future airport costs. Most councils forgot that and absorbed the funds into general income. As far as landing fees go for recreational users we could pay a donation as a lot of council provided camping sites do. This would remove the need for administration, issuing of receipts etc. Larger regular commercial operations would and possibly do negotiate directly with councils and airport operators. As far as road funding goes Councils fund local roads and get state grants or contracts to manage regional main roads. Highways are directly funded by federal government. Fuel excise goes to general revenue and is spent wherever funds are deemed to be needed. Well that's what happened when I was a local council administrator many yrs ago. I am for user pays and do donate when asked, but when Council funds are used for skate ramps, walking trails tennis courts, aquatic centres, bike tracks, boat ramps, wetlands etc I get a little annoyed we are seen as a burden.

I think i read up to 30% use of avgas is ok. Over that and what RFGuy says comes into play.
