The control links being optical, I suspect it’s meant to be able to survive the EMP of a nuclear explosion.
Lots of electronic at each end of the optical. They could have used good old stainless cables, just have to remember to change them after 15 years😂🙄😥#casa

Vne for the RV14 is 200knots. Vne is not maximum speed at full throttle.

That blue and white one looks pretty nice😍

That's a pretty awesome plane. Van's Aircraft is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. More than 13,000 flying now. Van's total performance is a real thing.

I thought the Mitchell u2 was the coolest thing back in the last century. Total lust.

100knots @7lph or 175knots @18lph. This is less than half the fuel flow of similar sized aircraft at these speeds. Magic or bullshit?

One track that is not a fan, it is a radial shutter just like an old mack truck would have.
The useful load is only 33kg more and the cruise is 10knots faster than my 160hp Musketeer. Fuel burn more than double. Has got the cool factor.

It is fast @190knots for a pair of 230hp engines. For the range quoted it would have to carry about 1300litres of fuel all of which is in the fuselage.

Is this the only tricycle u/c aircraft that should be landed on the nosewheel(s). If the rear wheel is steer able with springs it is probably more like a tail dragger.

I was looking at one of these with a friend at the airfield not long ago but I don't know if the manufacturer is still in business because there have been no updates to their website since 2016 ?
Reports were that they are a very nice machine to fly
The two double fatal crashes due to structural failure may have something to do with it.

Only 6kts between Vne and Cruise Speed? Seems to be a little too close for comfort?
196kts is max level speed, Vne is 230kts. Some airplane designs are not as well sorted as they should be and might struggle to get thru normal certification. See the section Airplane design.

Very impressive aircraft. The Jabiru 230/430 would be a worthy competitor with 915 power.
