  1. G day trikepilot Have a look in your handbook and go read up on "Effects of the throttle" = Torque, Slipstream, Thrustline effect, Gyroscopic effect and Asymmetric blade effect. You may also check tyre pressure re ground effect/steering. Have a good new year and when you have time please call me or drop me an email or a no. to call you at, did you get my email? Cheers Zazoo
  2. Thanx mate Now, can you find me one with a Jabaru engine...? or pm me so we can talk.
  3. Thank you for the reply, eightyknots....!
  4. Has anyone imported a Bantam from NZ to OZ ? Who can I talk to..?
  5. Does any one know of any Bantams flying in Qld or if there is any for sale? Thanx Zazoo
  6. Bantam Please reply with email including more detail and contact nr to email given below? Awie de Swardt Mobile: 0400670785 Home email: [email protected]
  7. You are right John, all modifications on the Bantams sold in South Africa are aproved. So is the modifications I am talking about all done by the factory and approved.
  8. Yea... but I must tell you the "mods" I have seen was only improvemnts to the existing design. For one the alluminium rims looks like a huge improvement for rough terrain (bigger wheel, and better brakes etc.) Zazoo
  9. I don't know about the weight issue... I squash the gravity meter to 100kg and my mate ....bends the needle to ±105kg and the 80hp Jab motor had no problem getting us both air born at ±100m and cruising along at 55knots, climbing out at an avarage of 750 ft/min. (Airfield @ 500ft) The 6 cylinder was a total different experience....very short run and climbs well over 1000ft/min. But, yea... a very enjoyable plane with an Australian motor and all and...... Not many arround? Thank you for your view on the matter.... Zazoo
  10. G'day all... I do not find much with regards to the Bantam B22j here in Australia. Why ? What is there that one should know...? What happened ...? I know, coming from South Africa the Bantam is doing very well over there and many 4 and 6 cylinder Jabiru's are flying there today. I stand to be corrected...Apparently, here in Australia .....NO 6 Cylinder Jabiru Bantams...? I just dont get it....? Where can I get to read more about the history of the Bantam in Australia and who is there to talk to about this air craft in Queensland? Can anybody direct me to a forum where it might have been discussed pls. Zazoo Everybody dies.....but not everybody lives! Fly a Bantam...mate!

Hi Tomo Finaly landed and back on the site How are you going and are you flying the Jab yet? Looking forward to hear from you Regards Zazoo (Awie)
  12. Bantam airborne....Where? Hi you all… anybody…somebody! Where can one go or see any Bantam air craft flying? Or maybe I should be more to the point in asking if there are any Bantams flying in Queensland - Ayr, Mackay,Townsvile,Procerpine areas? Let us know …PM mail will be good! Thanx! Regards Zazoo
  13. Hi Tony Great story! Yes those Harvard’s........... Listening and watching them coming over in formation was awesome! It was probably the closest thing to even get an ostrich to take to the air…. Cheers Zazoo
  14. G'day...pilots and those hard at work to qualify... I have done a quick chopper flight on this session both pages, and one thing seems clear and it looks like an international problem or should I say it's a woman's thing..... My "softness" also does not like flying but she never complains as long as I phone and letting her know when we back at the hangar... I always phone after the full stop landing ...then all is well at home But what really caught my eye were all the girls flying with their fathers.... Good to see/hear that, I have two girls, and the oldest now 12 yrs enjoy flying with me more than the younger one now age 10. (Keep it straight and level!!) Regards Zazoo
  15. I grew up in a small town (Ermelo) in the high lands of South Africa. I remember the Harvard’s coming low and slow then banked right over our house and off they went again. The roar of those engines and the power they leave in a small boys mind was awesome. Many afternoons we took our bicycles and jetted to the runway out side of town.....just to go and have a look, maybe there will be somebody coming or going, you never know... My dad (a Pharmacist) once said you must become a doctor, or something.........to be able to afford an aero plane! So I did............. become something but never a doctor and enjoy my skills in agriculture today! I managed to acquire a micro light pilot license, and use it today to assist in managing, but also enjoy every moment of it. Regards ZAZOO
  16. Guy's Need guidance here.. Any one that can tell me where to start once settled in to be legal to fly again. Any flight schools close to Ayr? Will I have to do some conversion of some kind? My SA license..."MPL" will it be of any value in getting air born again? Regards Zazoo
  17. G'day Ian You were saying..... '...I think we have a Bantam at Rodds Bay which is 10 hours South of Ayr by car." I guess I will have to come to terms with "distance", Aust.. being such a big country you drive for 10 hr's in SA... you probably seen it all. (Especially if you drive like some of them do over here...) Cheers ZAZOO
  18. Hi Doug:wave: 34th anniversary.... G..mate that is an achievement, congratulations to the both of you. I am now almost half that... isn’t it true the longer it is... the better it gets:question: Thanks for the warm welcoming mate! Cheers ZAZOO (it's not what you can get from it...It's about how much you put into it!)
  19. Tom Yes I know about them  and have one of the SA aviation magazines here with an article on what they are all about... good on you mate, you aim high and it seems you have a plan to get there, just don’t give up on getting your trade fist, that is important. Work hard at it and keep going! About the driving license,... that is a different story that even I have to go through once I am in Oz.... I guess no need to worry about that now; will jump the hurdle once I am there! My dream is just to be able to keep on flying, and maybe one day my own Bantam in your beautiful country one day! I have been there visiting once for about 4 weeks traveling the east coast from down south just across the NSW boarder right up to cairns. What a tour that was mate! Fell in love with all of it and will never forget "trader Pete" from Hamilton Island... what a great visit! Still have the cap he gave me! After visiting Procerpine mill. Cheers, and let us know about the driving license............ Zazoo (Nothing comes cheep...you have to pay in sweat!)
  20. Well Tom Let me fist say to you, congratulations and hope turning 17 will be a very special day! Now, me you see... you can double the 17 and put a couple of grey ones on the head and don’t forget about the ones I've lost! You are at the best school to be at in life, and learning from the "old man" is good, you get to know about all the tricks of the trade, you won’t find in books! Good luck with the Jabaru 120 and your first lessons, never give up & keep going at it 100%! Cheers ZAZOO You fail to plan…you plan to fail!)
  21. Tom Eeh...Sounds like you would be able to assist in spreading the resume around... I presume you are not involved in the sugar industry? It would be very interesting to talk to you...
