  1. Websites can be paid for 12-24 (twelve or twenty four - as a pilot, I don’t want to be called out for abbreviation on here) or even more months in advance. Sometimes with a business is shutting down, I doubt many would care about that website part unless there are ongoing payments needed to keep it up.
  2. I was arranging my FAA conversion so I could fly in Hawaii in May and again in July for Oshkosh, however my holiday to Hawaii has been cancelled and FAA are not doing in person visits, so no verification Possibility. So I guess next year will be my time... so now I’ve focused on getting my NVFR and with some luck will have a flight test this week.
  3. I like they did did not mention anything about the nose wheel collapse. Just standard bogged recovery.
  4. This is not correct for Private Ops. The use of EFB does not require a second iPad / Device or Paper so long as you satisfy the use of it: I do always carry a second device (just in case) all loaded up as well as extra external battery however this does satisfy the requirements.

  6. I’m flying in with my wife, leaving YBAF Friday around 8, stopping YTNG for a comfort stop then onto YSHR. We are staying at Big 4 eco resort... fancy name for a caravan park. Have a cabin for the 3 nights.
  7. That is RAAF Base Amberley, was happy to be able to do a 2500’ fly over it with it being Class G still with the Tower Closed.
  8. Like the “go jacks” or “quick jacks” that the tow trucks use. [/url]http://www.racerindustries.com.au/afawcs0161689/CATID=345/Go-Jacks.html
  9. What a great day flying yesterday, flew back home to YBAF after spending 4 days in Mudgee, staying at the Hangar House. The Hangar House is amazing, great location right on the airport at the RWY 22 so you can see planes landing (if they don’t stuff up too much and land long). Then you get to see them of they use RWY 04 in their climb. The rooms are all aviation themed and I picked the Connie room, it is their largest and has a double person spa in it. The Hangar itself was available so I could park our Arrow II in it. It did feel a little funny as we didn’t see the owners until the 3rd day, we had a call and some txt. It turns out that they have sold the Hangar House, I’m not sure if everyone had seen that it had been on the market for a year or so. Later that day the new owner was had come by and they are also very nice and going to keep it running, so this amazing place will still be available. The flight back was great, as I departed on RWY 22, from downwind (right hand circuit) climbed through to 7500’ to make sure we had nice height to get over the 4000’ great dividing range. My wife was busy taking pics of the range and I was casually adjusting to avoid the puffy whites that had formed along the range. Tracking to Lake Keepit (YKEP) to avoid Tamworth (YSTW) then on to Park Ridge Water Tower (PKR). A few times I had to reduce to some odd heights to stay away from the cloud, between Inverell and Glen Innes, flying near the Wind Farm they are at 4000’ and the cloud had dropped to around 7000’ so some careful separation and a great view. After the wind farm the cloud lifted again and I was back at my filed 7500’ and back on radar, BN CEN was following us again and able to give us some early traffic warnings. As we got closer to Brisbane, it was smooth air, I thought plenty of time to go so why don’t we do a flight plan amendment and stop at Kooralbyn (YKBN) for a coffee and lunch, but no sooner than I thought that, I could see that we were only a few miles away and the radio is now getting busy. So we skipped coffee and I started my descent from 7500’ to 1500’ for the water tower. I already had the second radio setup with the AWIS, took down the details, started to SQUAK 3000, contacted YBAF Tower 118, “ME: Archerfield Tower, Piper Arrow WJO, Park Ridge Water Tower, 1500’ inbound with Golf, 2 POB for full stop at the Fuel”. After crossing the Logan, they advised to join final 28L (damn, now I need to taxi around to get fuel, then back to our parking). As I started to prepare to turn final, the joyful words came cross the air: WJO, change RWY 28R. Awesome, they do an amazing job there in the tower and now I get to save some time on the ground. a few seconds later, the airways were alive again, tower: WJO 28R cleared to land. So now I do my final PUF check, look at the wind socks to make sure everything is still going the way we were expecting. A greased landing, cleaned up and took B3 exit, cleared 04R and contacted ground for taxi clearance. Then it was just a matter of topping back to tabs and to put WJO away. Tied her down, had a quick chat with a few of the other pilots getting ready to enjoy the amazing day. So a big kudos to the Archerfield Tower, always do an amazing job, Brisbane Centre, even when they are busy, they are still cool under pressure. My wife, for the company (she was super happy I paired her A20’s to her phone this time so she had music all the way).
  10. Flew to YMDG for a few nights stay at the Hangar House. Amazing place. Great flight down from YBAF on Tuesday. Preparing to fly back today, going to miss this place. So nice and relaxing.
  11. I went to Valley Kitchen a few weeks ago, unfortuanly when I landed the windsock was missing. The Valley Kitchen does great coffee and breakfast as well. It’s a nice little airstrip, watch the bump just at the beginning of 30. Yes unfortunately the building has been trashed, looks like it would have been great in the day. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=198721463879559/posts/632107330540968
  12. Seriously looking at it, the only issue I just recently found is that I want to do Angle Flights, and they won’t use experimental... so need to look more at my options.
  13. Yesterday I took my first flight in a Cirrus SR20. What an amazing plane, so comfortable and fast. A big change from our little PA28. Apart from the cost, this is something I would love to fly often.
  14. Hi and welcome, I was over in SA last month, I flew the new Sling 4 TSi and OMG, that is an amazing machine. Nice strip there at Tedderfield as well. Enjoy.
  15. I cant comment from an aviation point, but I use the SSB batteries in my motorbikes and JetSki, awesome weight saving, massive CCA. Well worth it from that point.
  16. That seems strange, given that at the moment, certain aircraft that are able to be registered with 700kg or more are also able to be RAA rego for 600kg....
  17. I stopped there last year on my way to Orchid Beach as my PAX needed an urgent stop and couldn’t wait to Orchid beach and as I didn’t have an ASIC card last year only flying RAA I didnt want to stop in H’Bay. It was very deserted but a nice big runway.
  18. Hi and welcome, we have a Piper at Archerfield, I fly into Caloundra and occasionally into Caboolture.
  19. I had 18 years between starting to learn and finishing. The hours I had done previously count and as it’s competency based, it will be however long it takes you to get back to it.
  20. Welcome, I was just in SA yesterday for the past 10 days, went to The Airplane Factory on Monday. Some crazy conditions, 5300’ elevation 32deg day, smog, huge xwind. Still got to go up in the all new Sling 4 TSi. What an amazing machine. Such a beautiful country, flew last Tuesday around Cape Town. Enjoy.
  21. So RAA want 750kg and then 1500kg, CTA, they say that self declared medical is unsafe for GA RPL PPL, so it’s unsafe for RAA to get the RPL level of weight and CTA. They need to ensure RAA does not get these increases as they are for GA and you need a medical for that....
  22. What a sensational day. Got to fly in SA. Couldn't get to fly our filed plan due to a huge cloud base building up over the coast but still a great 1.1h. I highly recommend Cape Town Flight Training Centre. Kaine's Aerial Photo and Videography I rocked up a bit early as traffic can be super thick. When there the lovely owners were sitting down at the table and wanted me just to keep talking as she loves aussie accents. The instructor they got in for me is their advanced training (IFR and Flight test) instructor. We had a quick chat and then he was super happy as he doesn’t normally do trail flights and said since you can fly we would go do this awesome area over to Robben Island and through class C airspace through the Airforce base around Table Mountain and then down nice and low along the coast line around the naval base and back. A check of the notams showed that one area we wanted to visit was active with rocket launches... so we did a bit of a change of planned route and then we filed our flight plan (needed to be 30min before flight minimum), we then went out to do our walk around and inspection. There are special rules for some of the areas (see link) Local PPG around Fisantekraal Airfield and Durbanville area Other than that, the fight plan filing was not too bad, an online system. We called up with mobile on the ground to activate our flight plan and pick up our squawk code. Once out and flying the clouds were building up a lot more than predicted over the coast line, as we had planned to transition though the military airspace at 1500’ but cloud base over the coast was below 800’ and the base was active (we had 2 jets scream past us while we orbited) so they wouldn’t transition us that low. But a great experience, Fisantekraal is an old airforce base so there are multiple runways but it is poorly maintained.
  23. Yeah reverse cameras and massive amounts of time and money.. Draco is an awesome looking machine.
