  1. bad language slip up inserted by mistake. Freudian slp perhags So Sorry, but did not intend to use the word b_tch!! Not sure what I was thinking.:black_eye:
  2. Grounded, Wet, Desperate You know the saying,"Best intentions of mice and men..." Well, I am up to my neck in water. It has rained nonstop for over two weeks in the Northern Rivers area. So much for flying. My plans for the 'Rock' and Kangaroo Is. looks pretty much dashed at the moment. Should weather change and I am able to fly my plan I will post the *snip by mod*. Meanwhile, hope you all have had a very Merry Christmas and here is to a bloody marvellous new year with lots of good and safe flying. Cheers
  3. All very good advice and I thank you all whom contributed. I will take the advice of some and now will look instead of flying from Ayers Rock down to SA on to Kangaroo Island!!?? Any hints and advice on this trip during early January? I will leave Broome for the cooler months
  4. Is there another airfield nearby in Broome that is not a controlled aiport? What would you suggest?
  5. Are you suggesting I refuel at Halls Creek after departing Ayers Rock? Will I need another refuel from Halls Creek onto Broome?
  6. Iam looking to spend new years at Ayers Rock then will want to fly to Broome. My concern is the vast beautiful empty space in between. I will need at least one refuel to get there. If anyone has done a similar trip I would love to hear from you. Also, I live in Byron Bay and will have 4-5 days to get back from Broome. What might track/detour would you suggest? Cheers Nick Bond
  7. Another Little rant Thank you for letting me be aware that the Jab230 only comes with 2cht sensors!! God knows why. Like you, I also assumed that my Jab will come with six cht sensors. Why not?. Was it silly of me not to assume otherwise? Jabiru response was "Normal Jab package comes with one sensor and the Dynon package they install is a four cylinder module. Again, it begs the question. The reason Iam somewhat chagrined is that I pick up my new Jabiru 230 in a couple of weeks and now have to pay more than I thought I would have to for the installation of a six cylinder module and the extra sensors. I didnt realise earlier that the GPS module was not included in the Dynon package that I was quoted. Another $500 dollars for that! Jabiru would be better served if they produced a full list with prices of the Dynon skyview package. What would you recommend I look for prior to taking ownership of my new plane? Iam bursting with anticipation. Talking about GPSs'. Iam thinking of getting the garmin aera 500 as a backup. Does anyone have any useful comments about this product. Hope to see all of you in the air sometime.
  8. Hello to all you pilots I am one of the very lucky few that will soon take possession of an aeroplane, the Jabiru 230, and will need to fly it back to Northern NSW. I have a few questions. Firstly, to all you factory built Jab owners. What advice can you give me with regards to what you think I would need to look at, for, test, try etc, etc. before coughing up the big bucks? How much time would I need to iron out any bugs and problems that might turn up. What would you suggest I bring with me apart from the necessary maps and publications? What has been your experience? Secondly, to the general flying public, what help, hints, advice can you give with regard to navigating my way back to Ballina (YBNA) from Bundaberg airport? Thanking you all in advance Nick
  9. Im looking at putting a skyview in a Jab 230D aswell. Any chance you might be able to post or send me a photo of your panel. Very interested in layout. Also, if not too imprudent of me, could you tell me what the cost of skyview plus installation was. Cheers Nick
  10. Trying to decide whether to go with the new panel 6 from jabiru factory, i.e. with Dynon D 180 or follow my heart and go with the Stratomaster Voyager. Has anyone got any comments and in particular photos with either avionics installed in their jabiru 230D? Would love to have a look at them.
  11. Thrilled and Confused!! Wow, wasn't expecting such great and quick replies. Thanks very much for the information. Did some quick research on the Stratomaster Odyssey and I am very much impressed with it. I think it would be my EFIS of choice especially as you can now pick one up for USD$3600. But still somewhat confused. Is the Odyssey certified for RA registration? Does it need to be RA certified for plane to be RA certified? Where can I see one of these glass panels in action that is close Ballina? Questions,Questions,Questions???? "The Only stupid question is the one you don't ask"
  12. Hello, Iam looking to purchase a jabiru 230D with Option 3 Flight and Engine instruments. This would bring the total cost of the Jab to approx $115,000.00, as per the latest Order form, however, I decided to research the costs of some of the instruments and if I were to purchase the Dynon EFIS D100, Dynon EMS D10, AVMap Ek IV from the US I would save over $8000 AUD. (not insubstantial!!) Now, I understand that there will be installation costs involved but surely not to the tune of $8000. My question to you is what are my options here. E.g. Buy basic jab with large fascia and install these instruments by a qualified person later. Any ideas??
  13. Hello everyone, Began learning to fly out of Ballina early this year. Ostensibly for business purposes as I do a lot of country travel. Had no idea how much fun it was going to be and what a whole new world it opens up. Plus the fact it is actually more efficient use of my professsional time and it is more economical to boot. I am looking forward to getting to know you fellow aviators. Meanwhile, Fly lots, live large and have fun Cheers Tigerfish:clap:
