It was the one near Mount Isa. I thought the 177 was covered by the service letter, but doesn't seem to be by the AD.

Yeah but with a smaller plane you won't have the luxury of filling it to the brim, chucking four people in it and heading off! -
I write the distance from the next way point in the right margin. Also do this for ToD. As has been said, you should always know exactly where you are even without a GPS. Then when you depart and you get your log happening you'll know what time these events will occur. Eg. ML 135.25 YORG -35, 04 (Station, Freq, WPT, distance out, ETA) YORG TOD -17, 16

Yeah, but if you're in IMC, as the speculation is saying with this incident, looking out the window won't achieve much. -

Airports or ALAs with places for a picnic

Hi All, Does anyone know any places to land that are pleasant enough to land at and have a bite to eat? Especially if there's some shade, and a safe place for the kids to have a run around to stretch their legs. I'm in Central West NSW, so suggestions vaguely near to me appreciated but I'm sure others would be interested Australia wide. Crookwell is scenic, but it's BYO shade and no loo. Narromine has a fenced area near apron with a covered picnic table. Khancoban has some lovely big trees and a toilet Thanks, Tom -

Parkes has TAF and METAR service which include smoke forecast and visibility observations.

He's very good. -
I think with an RPL you’ll also need CTA, CTR and Flight Radio endorsements.
