Hello Everybody I have just bought a Garmin 296, and just "presumed" that unlicensed aiports whould have been on the database... silly me! Is there an "easy" way of adding these airports, ALA's etc into the database.. Thanks Ange

Hi Internation Tent is a great meeting place.... Its open every day early till the close of the airshow. There's a notice board tht you can put your business card, catch up mob numbers, camping details or "mud map" location on.... It will surprise you who you can run into. f you are going to Oshkosh, it is worth joining the EAA.. you get discount on enterance and amping fees. Different aircraft types and clubs meet at various locations around the venues. The Avid Flyer people meet at Seaplane base on the Wed arvo... It was wonderful for me to meet these members and see their pride and joys and hear their tales! I think anyone can look at the EAA.org site. Check out the forums and aircraft type get togethers. Hi Wannabigplane We ( a group of 9) went to Osh last year. It was just incrediable! We started off with a few days in LA, and did a bit of sightseeing. Oshkosh, Buffalo to go to Nigarra Falls Then down to Washington DC (there are in fact 7 Smithsonian's.. 2 avaition museums, fine art, modern art, American Indian etc..... One of the Aviation Museems is in the city and the other is at Duell's Airport.. can get a shuttle bus on the hour from the airport to Muesem. Then Vegas... dont forget the Boneyard... Hope to get there next year, when hopefully go back the USA again. San Francisco and home... all in about 22 days. We wanted to see as much as we could in that time. If you going to plan a trip also dont forget the "Spruce Goose" at McMinville, Orgeon. Boeing @ Seattle... use the net to surf out aviation museums before you go... also join the EAA and check out their site for upcoming events. Good luck .. you will be "gobsmacked" with all that is on offer at Oshkosh. Dont forget the International Test .. every day.. welcome shade, cool drinking water and a good meeting point and the Internation Dinner on the Thurs Evening. Excellent!! Hi All We stepped off the plane from San Francisco-Auckland-Melb at 1005 today! Boarded at 2100 Monday evening. Spent almost 7 days at Oshkosh.. Yes it is worth the trip. Save your pennies & dollars now for all the tipping! We also spent 2 weeks touring ~ Los Angles, Chicago (drove to Oshkosh), Buffalo (Nigarra Falls), Washington DC, Las Vegas (Grand Canyon)and San Francisco. Once I spart to unpack my case(s) Had 10 flights in all. Only had 1 delay, but boy am I over "USA Airports". I will post here, soon in the next couple of days. 9 of us went from West District of Vic. We organised all our own events. So far, I think that I have taken heap of pics. 3 x 1Gig cards Will have to spent a bit of time going over them. Ang

There is a Safeway Supermarket in town, with bottle shop. But beware most shops etc are closed all day on Good Friday... So get some stocks of snacks/drinks in!! I am sure that most service stations sell ice. I guess that the pub does too. Hope this helps.

Avalon Hi All I got into Avalon Wed arvo, and there till Sunday. I must admit despite the weather, I had a great time. I was fortunate enough to go to the reception party at the Geelong Yacht Club for the presentation of the "Around the Bay Rally." Friends Pip Robertson and Rod Anson won the Rally for the second time in Pip's Jabiru. We were able to met (and have pics) with Jurgis Kairys and the Sky Bandits, Jim Leroy and Chuck Yeagar. All were very easy to speak with, and that was a great evening.

Hi All. I flew in to last Avalon Airshow, and was treated very well..... It was a great experience, and I have filled out my forms and will be attending again in 2007. Only hassle I had was getting out on the Sunday evening.. being lined up for over 1 hour on the taxi way, and the threat of my Avid overheating!!! I also had a Dash 8 lined up behine me, and I was having nightmares about becoming prop chop fodder!! Next Airshow I believe that there will be an extra runway for us to use beside the main one.. Control Tower were abit slow on the use of numbers and not letters,... think they called me "ultralight with numbers!!!" The boys in the tower said toland short (on a 3kn runway!!) I finished rolling out at the the end of the piano keys...... a booming voice came back at me over the radio and said.. "not that short ultralight with numbers.......!" Go figure.?!?! "Proceed to taxiway bravo..... Made me smile all day. Camping is provided at the Lara footy ground, and meals can be bought at their footy club rooms/venue. All good quality at a reasonable price. Food at Avalon can be expensive and very bland. Shuttle buses are used for transport, between the airshow and camping. Also the Lara Train Station is just across the road, so one can head back to Geelong or Melb city very frequently. So therefore,I would reccommend anybody to go and enjoy. I met some wonderful people there, and look forward to catching up with them. Ange

Hello Does anybody know if the event will be televised on TV? If you cant get to the big weekend, perhaps some clubs could hold a social day with bbq etc and a big LCD TV !! Just an idea!

Hi Yes going to Wagga, but driving up ..... Last year, a few aircraft gotcaught for an extra nights stay because of the weather. Also if anybody is thinking of going, Street Machine (carmagazine) isholding the "Rivinia Revfest" at the Wagga Showgrounds and it is on the same weekend, so book your accomadation asap! as some venues are completely booked out, and you mightn't be able to get where you want to stay. There are pleanty of motels etc, but you might need to make a few phone calls!! Good event last year, and worth the 8 hr drive .. each way!
