It goes back even further than 20 years. Our own SBS dateline created a documentary in 2011  entitled "Problems with Boeing 737 Next Generation with structural dangers". This was way before the Max version. The whistleblowers were all sacked by Boeing. It starkly exposes Boeings "profit culture". It is well worth watching if you have a spare 33 minutes. Incidentally the doco is banned in the USA.

    Check it out.

What an enlightening documentary, I'm gobsmacked.

My second Hang Glider was a Pacific Kites Lancer 1 and it was 30th of January 1977. I trudged 900 feet up the Kaimai ranges near the Western rail tunnel portal (Kiwis will know where this is) with some mates and took off. It was a 5 minute flight to the bottom. I landed in a paddock that had a heap of cows in it. I unhooked & was getting out of my harness when they all started coming over to check out what was now in their paddock. As they got closer I realised the were not cows & they were not steers, they were all young bulls. They started licking the glider & I chucked the harness over the fence closely followed by me. My logbook entry for the landing is (just looked it up) "2 scary 360s, landed in a paddock full of bulls. Kite covered in genuine bullshit." Once they lost interest I got back over the fence, de-rigged and got out of there.

Landed in a pugged out cattle paddock once, never again. Nearly rattled every tooth out of my mouth!!

  3. Does anyone have contact details for the owner of this property, Steve Price. A couple of us nanolight flyers want to spend a few days flying round the Grampians & Steve's place is ideal with cabins next to the strip. We have flown out of here on a few occasions & can usually contact him through his website. Unfortunately this no longer exists & his landline is not connected. Pretty sure he had a mobile, so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

  4. Petercoota - prwoods screw in peg is called a Whites Spiral Tent Peg, 200mm long. Made of a "lightweight polymer", reputed to be "strong and easy to carry", they're available from Bunnings, $6.55 each here in the West.

prwood - How do these Whites Spiral Tent Pegs go, in really hard clay soil,  or rocky ground?

Hard clay soil, no problem. Not sure about rocky ground but small rocks shouldn't present a problem. Big rocks, just move around until you find clear ground?

  5. G'day all.I've been trying to find where I can purchase aircraft maintenance equipment around Melbourne on the net but not having much luck.

Things I'm looking for Tempest oil filters, stainless lock wire and plyers,

Screws, spark plugs and all other necessary Stuff for servicing and maintaining.

There was a hanger at Morabbin years ago that was packed to the rafters with bits an pieces for everything, dose anyone know if it's still going?

Was called Hanger 9, wonderful source of bits & pieces. Managed to build my first trike using hardware from them. You could just wander up & down the aisles picking out what you needed & inhaling that fabulous hanger smell. A box full of AN nuts & bolts would cost only a few dollars. Happy days.

  6. I am sitting here in ward 9 here at St Vincents hospital waiting for her to come out of recovery and brought up to the ward...they say it will be another hour or two...it brings tears to my eyes thinking about all the obstacles she has overcome in her short life so far

My thoughts are with you & your family Ian, all the very best to you all.
