maulonir
Hello All, I am just wondering if anyone knows of any Airstrips in the greater Whitsunday area that would permit Gyroplane training? Cheers Rob

maulonir
Russ, anywhere within an hour or so of Arlie beach. I have a couple of students in the area so was going to try to go to them and do the training in a block if I can find a suitable strip
Guest ozzie
What happened to the real long airstrip they were building at Lagauna Quays about 20 years ago? It was to be an International runway. Had got to the stage of sealing then stopped work on it. When i lived up there i drove down it and all it needed was a slash. David Mariner was behind it. Yenn
Would Bowen suit?
maulonir
Something closer to Arlie would be better but Bowen would be Ok.
stevek
What about Whitsunday Airport on the road to Shute Harbour. It's privately owned but they may allow you to fly from there.
Guest ozzie
Try and find the old gliding airstrip on the north side of the Peter Fraust Dam. And there used to be a strip near the Conway Beach Rd. Are the guys still building trikes and power units for hang gliders at Prossie. They were doing that in the engineering shed on the left of the highway as you headed south. They may point you in the right direction. I doubt that you could fly from Shute 100 hr minimum and the pace has over a hundred movements a day.
